Hello all

could just somebody help me identificate a beetle from it's numbers, I searched in some sites but not sure of what exactly it is. Anyway it's owner claims that is a 61 model, but I'm not very sure of it, I wouldn't like to pay for something not real

Its engine has stamped WF 8594650 (the WF appears not on the pedestal with the number, but lower on the block)

and its chassis (below the rear seat) is 6317264

The car is supposed to be all original and truth is it appears like that

Do you recognize if its a 61 as he claims or not?

Thank you in advance

5 677 119 to 6 502 399 = 1964 chassis

Chassis are interchangable so it might be at its heart a '61, but it is not all original.

Its engine has stamped WF 8594650 (the WF appears not on the pedestal with the number, but lower on the block)

That one has me buffaloed. There is an "F" prefix for 1300cc engines in 1966 but not with those numbers. That number without a letter prefix would mean the engine was built between Dec. '63 and July '64 -- ahem, a '64 model year again.

Edit: (Speedy beat me to the rescue.)

Thanks a lot

very very helpful, was almost sure he was talking kind of nonsence about being a 61. Now we 're talking on o different basis about the price..

Thanks again
