Hi,

My first post and many questions, so please bear with me. I have what I thought were 996 turbo calipers for a front conversion. I also have a pair of 993 turbo discs (32mm thick). When I went to slide the calipers over the discs, they didn't fit?! This is when I looked into the part no.s which were 996.351.425 and 996.351.426. As far as I can see they are for a Boxster S, can someone confirm this? The 993 discs have a removable hat so I could make a new one. I'm having trouble finding some correct discs (28mm thick?) to go with the calipers, Has anyone got any? Either that or has anyone got any 996 TT calipers they want to swap? Another way maybe is to use wilwood or stoptech discs etc. But has anyone any idea which ones will work???.
As this seems to be the best forum for porsche brakes, I hope someone could put me out of my misery:) :) :)

Thanks
Neil

Welcome to the GL forums. Is there anyway you could post some pic's of the calipers and rotors? This may help in a quicker answer.

Ok, I now have some pictures. The problem is whether I can get some discs with removable hats for these discs, or I bite the bullet and get some 993TT or 996TT calipers. OR, can these calipers be modified to fit the 993TT discs I have.
Thanks:) :) :)

Could you take 2mm of each pad to fit over the disk ? just a thought

I have those same calipers, and matching 25mm rotors. Mine are from a 996 C2 99-04, but I understand that the Boxter S 00-04 is the same.

As an aside, some cretin stole my matching RR caliper, and I need one from the same year 996 or Boxter S

AFAIK, Boxster S calipers are black monoblock items. Yours are not monoblock from the pics you showed..
However, there are some 996 models that at least use the exact same rear calipers as the boxster S does. Probably the later 996 models. Rear boxster S and later 996 rotors are then 24mm thick; regular (non-S) boxster rear rotors are 20mm (and also have monoblocks)
Front 996 rotors are 28mm.
Hope this helps.

Greets,
Walter

It's all very confusing ya know. It's a long search to find the right info on Porsche calipers. But they are definitley monobloc construction, and all the part numbers are boxster S, I believe also fitted to a 996. There may be a bit of hope on the horizon, as I might be getting my hands on some 996TT calipers which will fit the discs. So a set of 4 calipers may well be up for sale, or I might sell a pair and keep 2 for the rear.:) :) :)

Oh, I thought the latest monoblocks didn't have a connection brake fluid pipe between the two 'halves'..(?)
They are probably painted, also just to confuse us :p

Mine are monoblock, black, and is seems like a stock finish. PN is the same and also have the connection pipe.
Pelican Parts confirms applications I noted above

hello please

-the discs you picturd are 993 turbo 2

-they are 32mm wide
-322mm across
their offset is 72mm

i have for sale a pair of discs - 964 turbo 2

that are 322 by 30mm -skimmed 1mm each side -they fit

-their offset is 77

-please note, the 's' still isn't an ideal fit on the 322, ie its 4mm off

also note
-the non 's' boxsters are 986 part numbers

plus

-if you get a 310 by 30mm disc from an 's' class mercedes -perfect -cheap

-its offset is 82mm

just redrill to 130

Thanks for the heads up matey, BUT I do now have a set of 996 turbo calipers which will fit the discs I have. Therefore I am now looking to sell the other set (boxster S/996).:) :) :)

If its the pegs that the pads sit on thats fouling the disk you can open these out, use a packer and a vice or G clamp and just open them out they are only a (tight!) push fit.

Obviously dont leave a massive gap between the disk and peg as these do hold the brake pad in!

Hehe, that was the the answer I was looking for to fit the boxster calipers. I am however going to use the 996TT ones now, it would be rude not to! Thanks for all the help people.:) :) :)
I'll send a PM to you Hoghead about the rear calipers
