996 monoblock brakes to 944t (1988) rear end ? How hard is it ?

as far as i can see its just making up a bracket/adaptor for the caliper to become axial mounted instead of radial ?

is this right ?

Yes, an adaptor is all thats needed for rear calipers to fit. Vdubengineering can take the guess work out of getting the adaptors to fit... as they make them (as well as many others). (I gotta quit putting these shameless plugs on here   )

I made my own adapters, really easy going from axial to radial mount, jus make sure the discs are the right size (I used 86 turbo on steel arms).

Pics on my website under cabrio section..

I used 996 disks that go with the calipers and a 5mm shim behind the disk to get the disk centering on the calipers correct , apart ftom that it was pretty simple , i don't know if anybody has mentioned it but my 996calipers were fitted to the front of the disk on the 996 so when fitting them on the back of the disk you will have to turn them upside down and swap the balance pipe to stop the shoes from wedging (different piston sizes ).Just somthing to be aware of.
