Pull out the autostick tranny and use it as a boat anchor, drop in a std tranny.
Drive it while fixing the body and working out the kinks, by then clkwrk will be back from the body shop and I can then pop body off and paint it diamond green

Og floors, og paint, engine wise its stock and runs well has heat, working thermostat, flaps, oil bath its all there and working fine. It would be a shame to mess with it, but the plan for now is to make all mods reverseable.

I havent really updated anyone about the status of this project, this is because I have been trying to decide in a direction to go with it.

The plan is to pull the body, strip it, paint it a factory color (black) keep the body metal stock, porsche seats, some LM style wheels, the turbo 2332cc efi that is sitting in the garage with a superbeetle, 4 speed transmission.

Heres some of the engine specs:

- auto linea case
- superflo 1 heads
- scat 84mm porsche journal crank
- corillo H beam rods
- ceramic lifters
- HD aluminum tapered pushrods
- 1:4 Autocraft roller rockers
- slipper skirt pistons with total seal rings
- nikasil cylinders
- T3/T4 hybrid turbo
- electromotive efi
- turbo grind webb cam 112 lc
- stock FI shroud with thermostat
- type 4 oil cooler
- hi flow heater boxes

I have all the dry sump goodies but am worried about getting the oil up to temp fast, running a thermostat didd'nt help in the past beacuse of the extra volume of oil in the 911 tank I was using. I might put it together wet sump then later add the dry sump with a smaller tank.

I am still on the fence about the transmission, I would put a 915 in it but I dont want to hack the pan up. Once its apart I plan on doing some serious measuring. I have a 901 in the gold car, I am not happy with the dogleg pattern.
Maybe someone from this forum can come up with a better transmission choice?

I have started sandblasting, paint stripping and zinc coating, I have all the replacement metal and am ready to start the messy stuff.

Great progress! I like what's in store!
I'm very happy with my late case 4 speed, 4:12 with .82 4th. ZF LSD with type 2 flanges and cvs. It's wicked for bombing around town (I CANNOT stress enough how important an LSD is!), and can cruise 120 on the highway at about 3300 no problem. Depends how much time you spend on the highway really. But i certainly understand your concerns for cutting the body/pan. That's why I stayed relatively stock myself. To my understanding there is no 5 speed conversion that doesn't require body/pan mods.

How much boost have you driven with them yet?

In the past I did use the biral babies but I wasnt impressed with them, they diddnt stay round. Nickies would be nice, but I decided to try the cast nikasil coated barrels. A 2332cc turbo doesnt need to go too high on the boost to be a monster 5-10 pounds will launch a ghia very quickly
Aluminum case, heads, pushrods, pistons my valves should stay relativley in close adjustment from hot to cold.
I welded in new rear sheetmetal on CLKWRK, this spring it gets some paint, an engine and put back on the road.

Yes the chinese ones, I have already learned a lesson, dont get the long ones cutting nikasil is very difficult

If you know how to cut them, its really no big deal for an experienced machine shop. The guys shortening my nikasils do a lot of porsche work and machine nikasil on a regular basis almost ;)
I think its cool you got the long ones; You have a better rod-ratio than most I bet :)
