More Gearbox options

I talked to Jak from 'down under'; he runs a super beetle with a WRX engine as his daily driver and track car.

His transmission is the stock box, but rebuilt with bus gears and a tall 4th gear.

Anybody here done that ? Are there companies you know of who could do that ?

Jak runs very low boost and is a very careful driver as the car is his daily driver. It can be done but you will need bucket loads of self control.

I'm only running a NA EJ25 motor, so it's not putting out crazy horsepower, so it might not be a bad option for me...

Anybody know where in Canada / North America I can find a shop that rebuilds VW trannies ? (preferrably in Canada)..

I saw Jak at car club Christmas function last night. He's done nearly 90,000 Klms in his bug since the conversion, he stil says that it has the ability to scare him every day.
