Hi, I'm planning on buying a 3-bar from vdubeng when my car is ready, but for now I'm wondering how it ties in to the frame horns exactly. Does it have a bent tab that is held on by the frame horn bolts?

Also, is it the aluminum that needs welding once you get it in place or the steel pieces? I know all this would be answered if I just bought the darn things now but right now I just want to know if I need to beef up the tranny cradle and if I'm gonna need to make friends with someone that can weld aluminum.

Thanks

Mike

Hey BullyBoy thanks for the pics. I can see now what I need to see. It looks like it will be better for me to buy the heavy duty cradle rather than beef mine up.

The stock cradle is only half the thickness of HD one.

Just hand tight and locked the nuts.
No wheel hop, no matter how hard I've launched it

Here's a tip -- don't weld the tabs to the transaxle cradle until you've installed your header/exhaust. I had to send my driver side j-tube back three times to be re-welded/re-bent to clear the downtube from the brace. Live and learn... :o

Hmmm, I like the alu look AND the anodized look. What is the cost of the different ones?

THAT might help me dicide which one I want!

I powder coated mine with eastwood transluscent red.
Mine came from Lanner at VDub Engineering, around $80 cheaper than CSP ones that mike has.
