I'm thinking:

Fronts - 8JX18 ET50
Rears - 10JX18 ET65

My concern is for the rear. Will the 18x10 et65 fit under a 1.5" wider rear fender? Anyone done it?

Pete,

To be sure, make a tool using 1" x 1" x 48" wood stripping found at your local Rona / Home depot.

The tool is made to resemble the capital letter T. Make the top part of the T about 11" wide (for a 10" wheel with 265/35 tires). Screw the top part of the T to the vertical part (about 13" in radius ) of the T in such a way that it measures the same as the backspacing of your rim.

Now take the tool you just made to resemble the wheel and hold it up to your compressed suspension (on the rear disc) and rotate to see where the interference will be. This is what I did to fit my 18x10 and to determine what size fenders I needed without having to buy/borrow an actual wheel/tire.

I'm guessing you'll need about a 20mm spacer to get the inside of the wheel off the spring plate and you'll need to grind down the upper bump stop in the wheel arch on the rear.

I can barely get a pinky finger between my 18x10 et 47 and the rear springplate and the outside of the tire barely rubs the lip of my 2" wide fenders.

Good idea, i'll give her a try. Maybe a little poke, with a stretched tire would be a different look.

I'm getting the rims. I will have to figure out a way to make this work.

Hi

To get an idea of how things may look I use a known wheel size that fits in http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

In my case I know a 7x16 wheel with a 23 ET (Fuchs) fits under stock fenders.

So comparing your new rear wheels you would have 80 mm less inner clearance and 4 mm more outer clearance under stock fenders. So your going to need some pretty wide spacers to fill your rear fenders.

I'm not sure about your fronts because that depends on your car model.

If 7 x 16 fuchs with a 23ET fits under the stock fender, then if I have 3" widened fenders and a 8x16 with a 10.6ET (same backspacing as 7x16 23ET) then does that mean they are going to 'tuck in nicely' (car is fairly low) or be way too far in and need a spacer? If that's the case maybe I'll splurge on some 16x 9 's (though probably not). Anyway Hi-jack is over
