901 clutch lever length problem

Hi i have just installed my 901 box and trying to set up the clutch cable
whilst trying to fit the thrust race bearing to the fork i have come across a problem it appears that the pivot ball that it sits in is in a difference place on my lever
the quetion that i am asking is are there different sizes of lever arm for the 901 box or am i just doing something totally wrong i am not sure if this one came with the box

I hope this makes sense and someone can help me on this problem

Hi,

it seems that the tranny that you have might be a 911/01. This type normally has a pulled type clutch and it´s fork sits in a different place. The lever you have is from an old 901-gearbox. The 901 and 914-levers are very similiar. The position of the ball is the same, but the position of the drill for the bolt is different (but that makes no difference). Please identify your gearbox by giving us the ID of it. You can find it underneath the gearbox stamped into the housing (at the lowest point of the gearbox). Must be something like 911/01 or a figure like 901/13.
If you have a 911/01 you have to replace the position of the ball in the lever by welding in some metal and then milling in a new position.

The stamping on the bottom of the box is 911 / 01 and also 7700755 don't know if they mean anything to you , if you had a fork to fit this how much would you want for it thanks

That's a 1970+ 911 gearbox, as Martin figured.

Hi,

have got no levers in stock for such a conversion. Mostly old 901 or 914 gearboxes are used and that are the levers I normally have in stock.

So I think you have to mill a little.
