finally got my fastback on the road and had a few shakedown runs.

got a couple of issues, one is brakes.

here's the tech bit :-

front:- Audi coupe sliding calipers
rear:- Golf Mk4 calipers
m/c :- Porsche 944
brake bias valve on rear

having driven the car a bit now, i think it needs MORE bias to the rear, fronts work well but easlily can be locked up.

thinking of using 'residual brake pressure valve' on rears.

any thoughts appreciated.

THANKS! and nice to be back on the innovative forum!

Why not try removing the brake bias valve from the rear, they are pressure limiters at the end of the day...

hi,

what a great idea ! and free! :o (seems obvious really  )

it is turned up full but i guess as you say, it must have some loss through it.

Will give it a try.

Cheers.

Had a quiet spell in work :D so knocked up the infamous Bias Calculator in an excel spreadsheet, if you are like me, you can change the numbers to your hearts content and see what difference the various sizes make.

enjoy ! ;) Angelo

When screwed full down (or is it up?) there is no loss of pressure and you should have full pressure to the rear. I'm not surprised that you have excessive bias to the front especially as the front calipers were designed for a very front heavy car and the rears for a car with a light rear end - arse about face really:lmao: ! If you want to retain the calipers in their relative position I would seriously think about a balance bar set up that will give you a much bigger range of potential bias.

does anyone have a copy of said spreadsheet?
It would seem useful but it seems the link is dead.

Thanks.
