944 Rear Suspension Removal

Hi All,
I'm about to make an assault on a poor hapless 944 carcass at the local U-Pull-It junkyard...
Specifically, the torsion bars and spring plates.
Looking up under the car, the 944 is kind of wierd.
THe end-caps on the torsion housing don't look like they just "come off".
Or do they?
Do you have to drop the whole housing in order to get the end-caps off, and bars out?
Putting together the tools to get everything in one shot,
What would be needed, and what to watch out for?

why only the torsion bars and spring plates? Do you already have the trailing arms, the rotors, the brake parts, the stabilizer bar etc etc?
If you want to get everything in one shot, then get the full torsion housing, complete with everything on it, and dissasemble it at home. You will realise the actual housing is the ONLY thing you will not use on the bug.

Yes.

just decided to do the spring plates and bars, too..

Do you have to drop the torsion housing to get the end caps off, bars/plates out?

That means i'll have to bring a jack, and this yard dont allow no jacks, so that means bring a helper.....

Just unbolt the whole unit and take it home. Does have steel trailing arms or alloy?

This one has the steel arms.
I got the 4-pot brake setup plus the early mounts for the rear already.
Was going to go and drop the housing to scavenge...
It all just drops out once the visible bolts are loosened?
Are there any hidden inside the car, say under the back seat???
Would it be too gnarly for one guy to do if he's not allowed to use a jack:confused: ??
