Hydraulic thrust bearing test setup.
First I made a bracket to mount the bearing in the gearbox http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/140550.jpg http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/140547.jpg Setup an old master cylinder and tested the clutch. http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/140548.jpg http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/140549.jpg I miss the weight of the car and power of the engine, but it seems to work just fine. 8) |
Nice job on the slave cylinder mounting!
I see you have the good heads on the engine :-) |

Small step. it's on wheels again (only two for now)
http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/141136.jpg Now it's on it's wheels I could adjust the height and found out that the coilovers where hitting the drive shafts. So back to the drawingboard:mad: http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/141137.jpg http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/141138.jpg The fuel system is almost complete. this week I received the pumps, pumpbrackets and regulators. one set for the carb's and one set for the nitrous.http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/141139.jpg Paul. |
Relocated the upper shockmounts. now the axles run free.
http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/141194.jpg http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/141195.jpg Played with the camber adjusters on the rear. i am happy for now. http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/141196.jpg Difference before and after adjusting is around 2cm on the top side of the tire. |
After the camber adjustment on the rearwheels I wasn't happy with the outcome and adjusters, so I'll make a new attempt..

Isn't that a bit drastic?
With the 944 parts and maybe some Elephant racing heim joints, there is ample camber adjustment possible. I was amazed how much actually, now I could freely move the arms without the torsion bars hindering...(coil overs only like you have now also) |
As you have cut that much away you do a similar mounting for the swing arm that 944s use, google some images and you will see what I'm getting at, you could even have different mounting heights for the pickup point

I almost went there awhile back, and may still.
Might as well install some real height adjusters in the torsion while at it >;-) Here was my inspiration for adjustable inner pivots http://tr6.danielsonfamily.org/TrailingArmKit.htm Would need some redesign for our use, but the large dia inner "crush tube" in the bushings should make it pretty sturdy. Anyone offhand know the proper shock length with aluminum arms in a T1 or T3 with std upper mounts? (T3s upper mounts are double shear BTW) |

Zero camber @ the lowest position. now i have to check the camber when it's a bit higher.

Another option posted that came up when I was looking at taking the sawzall/welder at it similarly was that Marco Mansi sells T1-inner mount eccentric bolts.
His website seems to be down at the moment (worked recently) , but here's a thread where he first posted them AFAICT, with pics if you scroll down... Cell phone cameras have come a long way since 2007 These have been around awhile so you may have seen them, just crossing the "i"s and dotting all the "t"s. Putting my 86 944T arms on next week. Played with ludicrous sized front brakes today. Figured out a cheap DIY mostly bolt on combo for Wilwood Dynalites w/vented rotors for T3s. (works better with early spindles, not bad calipers with the bridge bolt mod) Also found how I'll probably install the Superlites, a little welding needed. I cant shrink the pics to 85K, not happening. That's worse than even the STF with its odd image geometry size limits and related issues. Will link if interested, need to post over there anyway on project. |
Hi Piledriver,
Please start a topic so that we can see your project, sounds interesting. I have the Marco Mansi adjusters but I am not really happy with them. not enough adjustment for my setup and I had to modify them to make them fit. |
Rearsuspension version 3.0 is almost ready, only need to receive the new toe in / toe out adjuster plates and mount them. also relocated the gearbox and made new mountings.

Done some small things, but has to be done.
*Made a stronger adjustable bracket for the rear suspension and bought 10,9 bolts and nuts to mount them. *Changed the Porsche 914 hubs from 4 to 6 bolts. *Made a bracket for the new throttle cable. *Made a throttle cable mount to the throttle pedal. *Pressure test the rear brakes (fail :-( ) http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/142679.jpg http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/142680.jpg http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/142681.jpg http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/142682.jpg http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/142683.jpg http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/142684.jpg |
I'm sorry if you've already stated this, but what steering rack is that out of? Nice work!

Thanks, the steeringrack is from a rhd Hyundai |
Made 2 driveshafts out of 4 VW Golf shafts.
Yesterday I mounted the T1 and T2 CV's and fitted them on the car. http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/142709.jpg http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/142710.jpg http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/142708.jpg http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/142707.jpg Paul. |
Not sure why I hadn't read through this entire thread before  but you've done amazing work!

The front is nearly ready.
fitting the Porsche suspension http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/143024.jpg And it's on 4 wheels again. http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/143028.jpg |
The progress is looking good!

Master brakecylinders and clutch cylinder are overhauled and mounted with the TILTON pedalbox.
The Steering column is mounted and connected to the R&P and it works like a dream.. http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/143044.jpg http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/143046.jpg http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/143047.jpg http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/143048.jpg |

Nice taste:)
|
Love it.
Excellent. |
It's bin a while but I'm still on it.
After setting the stance I found out that the front shocks where too short. the new shocks are gas filled and a bit longer. http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/143525.jpg I want the camber on the frontwheels somewhere between 0 and -1deg. but the adjustment did not go further as -2deg. now I will modify the Porsche A-arms. I will narrow them a bit and replace the original balljoint with an adjustable uniball. http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/143524.jpg |
How is the build going?
