Rise in the pan behind the drivers seat?
Paul, what's that structure behind the drivers seat? It rises up from the floor/pan.

Are the mounting points for the trailing arms in the stock location? I've seen this problem happen before |

The rear is narrowed by 19cm. I had to cut of the framehorns to place the mounting points. http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/77814.jpg |
Started on the cage today. With these holes I can lower the cage a bid and weld the up side.
http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/127333.jpg Bending the bends in the wright position and keeping it straight is a PITA. http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/127334.jpg Did you see my special cupper angle measure tool ;D Paul. |
De first hoop is in.
http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/127393.jpg http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/127394.jpg I made the connection to the gearbox mount with tape, this way I can measure the angle I need. http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/127395.jpg http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/127396.jpg Paul. |

DAMN, why didn't I notice this before. After checking the cage measurements, I found out that the gearbox wasn't in line with the middle of the car.
http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/127625.jpg So time to start over again. (attempt nr. 3) http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/127627.jpg http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/127626.jpg Paul. |
Noooooooo! Oh, you mean the tranny mounts, ok, I had a flash of you starting over on everything, just don't know if I could handle it!

Hi
Love this thread. Lucky you found the error with that trans mounting now. Wouldn't life be so much easier if we didn't do all this stuff to old VWs, but it would be a pretty boring life. Steve |

Gearbox is in again. It is further inwards so I had to shorten the cage and framehorns.

Because of the higher mounted engine and gearbox, the luggage compartment had to be raised as well. This means that is had to be widened. I wanted to use a donor piece from 1954. Now I found out that even this part of '54 sheet metal is different to a '56 piece. But with a little help of a hammer and knee it starting to fit.
