Hi Jason ,
I am with Wally on this one , it sounds like you just want confirmation of what is a damn good idea,My personal view is that there is little to be gained by destroying your current car because with a full Boxter floor pan and running gear ultimately you would be only looking for a new shell as virtually non of your current running gear would be transferable. The other thing to consider is these projects tend to drift on for at least half a decade in most cases so it would be nice to have something to take out and enjoy occasionally as non of us are getting any younger . Hope you and the family had a great Christmas Jonathan |
Believe it or not my mind's not made up on anything! I've been thinking and thinking, what I've kind of ended up on is trying something different with the rear suspension but not changing out anything important. Whilst I work on that I'm going to keep my eyes peeled on a Boxster/Cayman. I'll probably get one, but even then I might try swapping just the rear end and tranny first, maybe look at an STi motor, see how that works, then maybe do a Bugster copy down the road. I like the idea of not ripping apart what I have yet, but I also don't want to sink a bunch more $ into it when the complete package won't work.
So, I'm gunna pull apart the rear control arms and try to redo that and the tie rods to get rid of my toe changes during bump for starters. Jason |
914 would be another option to swap the boxter stuff as they are both mid engine. I would love to have a triptroinc 914
