Cam September 22nd 2008 22:12

All of your cars look awesome on the track, looks like they were always meant to be there.

I posted a link to this thread over at aussieveedubbers.com in the circuit racing section.

Wally September 23rd 2008 17:54

Thanks for the nice words Cam.

This one says it all for me:

petevw September 24th 2008 17:35

AWESOME!!!

So spit it out, what were the lap times? I'm sure someone glanced at their watch.

I loved that track with the ****box rental. To lap it in my aircooled...... i'd pee myself. :lmao:

High five to you guys, sooo jealous! Love the pics.

Pete

Wally September 25th 2008 02:06

Thanks Pete, but since you've been there yourself, you know it is not allowed to run a timer in the car as it is to film during driving in order to avoid bravoury.
I really wasn't concerned about a time on a very dangerous track with 73 corners, a lot of them blind over a crest... Add to the fact that your coming onto the track and driving off on the same straight, and you may understand that timing is a bit pointless imho.
There was an olderly gentleman at the car park that had a lot of experience with porsches, even worked on 917's back in the days and did hundreds of laps himself there that said my car could do under 10 minutes...;)

Its just the driver that has no experience...;)

Wally September 29th 2008 02:52

AJ found a Ringreport of the weekend before and it turned out that this little german-style bug was there the week before we were...:

http://marknauta.nl/extra/ring/ring1...n_7856copy.jpg

Cam September 30th 2008 06:19

Wicked!!! Does anyone know this bug?

We should really try to get more aircooled cars for a late 09 meet.

Wally September 30th 2008 07:25

Heard you just bought a Hondah Cam....

I think we, the Dutch guys, will be there again next year and I think some more Dutch guys will join after seeing our adventure. Cam, how serious are your plans to come to Germany next year?

Cam October 1st 2008 21:11

VERY!!!! I will definitely be in Europe for August & September next year.

What grounds do you base this rumour on Wally? ;)

Wally October 2nd 2008 01:47

Hard evidence in the form of pictures :D
Well, a low-milage NSX is a very cool car, despite the manufactorer ;)

Cam October 2nd 2008 03:56

LOL, unfortunately it must be another Cam that you're thinking of. No NSX's in my driveway.

Wally October 2nd 2008 09:04

Then I sincerely apologize for the misunderstanding :o

Another TIV engine and replicar enthousiast imported his speedster into Australia in a container he shared with a certain....Cam.

I thought 'how many aussie Cams that are aquinted with another VW/type 4/german enthousiast can there possibly be? Well, there you have it...:o

Sorry mate.
PS I really was a very nice car though!

Cam October 4th 2008 23:27

haha, that's cool. I know the thread that you're talking about. My understanding is that those cars are actually in Dubai - still owned by Australian's (the spyder atleast) though.

Hi to all GL people.

I'm glad this forum works again :D

Nurburgring is 1200 km's from me. I went there few times. The most legendary track in the world.

That's the reason why it's sticker is a first thing I've put on My project car... The Ring' trip will be the first thing I will drive with My car :)

Haha, thats hardcore!

Like the sticker, I even didn't see that one over there :goodjob:

MX67 November 5th 2008 18:20

Well, there's two version. You have modern with track path, and this old design they've used before.

Fits Bug nicely :p

I even saw metal plate in the same design (perfect when you place it instead KARMANN sign). Costed 120 euro on ebay

Cam November 5th 2008 18:32

That's a great sticker! I didn't see them when I was there either, although I did get the metal plate version that you mentioned (for when my ghia eventually gets done), 120 euro seems way too much for one though.

I picked up a couple of stickers when I was over there and finally got to use the red one

http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/74100.jpg

Its said to have a 3,2 porsche 6-cylinder in the back...(!) and that the guy worked 9 years on it.

blitzvw November 19th 2008 11:03

Some awesome pictures guys!

I love your Beetle Wally. Can't get enough of it! I've searched for whatever pics I could find on all the forums of that beast.

WOW!!!! :o Do you have any links to information on this car Wally?

Wally November 19th 2008 12:09

Thanks Bliz!

Sorry Cam, none other than what I wrote already..

Aehndiii November 19th 2008 14:32

Here's mine on the Nordschleife. I've got some more pictures, but I think one should be enough ;)
It was made back in 2007, the car looks quite a bit different now :)

Wally November 19th 2008 15:26

Car looks absolutely beautifull there! Great stance and I love the Cup-II's.
Thanks for posting this :)

aartjan November 19th 2008 15:33

Very nice!!

Cam November 19th 2008 18:56

^what those guys said... your car looks fantastic.

It seems there are so many great VW's out there that we all have no idea about, it would be cool to organise some way of getting them all together.

I wish you hadn't asked me about my engine... It's a normal 1600 50hp.
If it's ok for you and the mods I will post some more pics here. But I can't do it now, I've got to go to work in a few minutes :(
And thanks to all of you for your nice words, also with the few modifications I've done the car was expensive enough
At the moment it doesnt look as it's shown on the pictures. The "de-chroming process" is running :D and I hope to get some carbon parts over the winter.
When I come back from work I will immediately post a few pics :)

blitzvw November 20th 2008 04:54

Cool! Can't wait to see the pictures :)

Aehndiii November 20th 2008 12:40

Here's an older one from 2005

The picture I posted before is the newest one from 2007, I'm sorry that I haven't newer ones...

Wally November 20th 2008 14:41

Sweet! How many laps have you done at the Ring?

Not enough :D
Well all in all it should be only about 20 laps. As a student I couldn't do much more  But I watched really many onboard-vids so I know the line a bit. And since I have a job I can hopefully do some more.
The "best" thing is that you aren't the slowest one on the track, also with such low power, if you know the line. I remember a Porsche 911 driver who came to me after I could follow him until "Breidscheid" (which is the lowest part of the Nordschleife). He asked me how much power I have in my VW. When I told him it's only a standard 50hp he stared unbelieving and went away quite quick :D But don't ask me about the following uphill part...

Does anyone have any more info on this beast? Looks very intriguing, he needs to be a GL member!!!

Jason

Wally November 21st 2008 06:17

The licence plate looks Norwegian to me. Maybe he is a member of a scandinavian forum, probably not the callook.no/lounge though :lmao:

blitzvw November 21st 2008 08:36

Aehndiii, your car is very very nice
