7 x 16 Alloys

Hi,
I have the same size alloy wheels on my GT Beetle but am finding the steering quite stiff and sometimes hard - do you get the same reaction? The only difference I can see is that I am running 205 x 50 tyres (all round)... Any suggestions would be appreciated.

No, no steering problems on this car with 7x16,s but this is an 03 far superior than a torsion bar car:lmao::D;) only kidding, check your steering box and may be put some smaller tyres on.

new to this, but was thinking of having my front wheels machined down an inch to 16 x 6 and fitting smaller tyres, what do you think?

O.K your new to this , but unless your having them narrowed ,i.e cut in half machined and then re welded ,how do you propose to machine an 1"off your rims, first off check your steering box, tie rods and try smaller tyre 195x45 ;)

Thanx for the reply - will check steering box and tie rods - also going to get some smaller tyres...
I should have said that a guy is going to cut the wheels in half, machine them and then re-weld them...
Cheers for the info.

Little bit of an update with 02, got the side vents cut out going for our carbon versions this time, also changed my mind on the ally 944 a arms, going early 944 steel with our uni ball+coil over set up, got that made and trial fitted with some old Konis for now............

TSAF July 6th 2011 06:29

Personally I believe that the early 944 arms are stronger than the later ones. Lee the project looks great. The carbon side vents will look great. Have you decided on the color?

NO_H2O July 7th 2011 23:57

L.A.P. does very fine work. Love it.

Slight change of plan on the colours for this car, i got to be honest and say the green was a cover up, you lot will still have to wait for it though, you may not like it you may love it, either way iam going for it:lmao::lmao:

711302 July 8th 2011 17:00

What do the side vents connect to?

70Turbobug July 9th 2011 10:35

They route air into the engine bay, allowing the fan to suck in more cold and fresh air.

Ok IŽm relieved,I saw the pics and thought to myself,I wonder what he used as a color sample...I hope not something from his trousers! No just kidding!! Looks great! The rims arenŽt mine though, but the color combo looks good!

evilC July 28th 2011 07:16

Well if you've painted it brown then the top half has got to be cream so thats its a proper 'brown and cream job'
