Kevin is definetly doing some great work there! Very well done! I hope you make a couple of videos, I am anxious to hear what it sounds like!
|
Looking good. Looking through your site I found this picture. Is this panel something you made?
http://www.basilari.com/wp-content/u...utch-setup.jpg |
Yes, we made the cover for access to the clutch master cylinder if needed.
Here is the latest from today.... http://http://images.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/1083481.jpg http://images.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/1083485.jpg http://images.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/1083484.jpg http://images.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/1083483.jpg http://images.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/1083482.jpg |
Very nice, after just replacing the shifter bushing that access panel jumped out at me
|
Sooooo, anything???

Also, the air intake and exhaust system are out for coating so we are waiting on that stuff to finish. After that, we should have all the necessary systems in place to get it fired up for the first time. |
You can't paint that!
|
Indeed avesome car ;) I'v got "only" front mendeola suspension waiting installation with a ton of other well thought modifications and expensive custom type 1 engine.
Would love to see at track which would faster ;) |
Oil Sump
Hi, any chance of getting a closer look at your oil pan sump while in the car, in the fully bolted up posiiton.
I've been really searching the net on the EZ36R. How will you address the AVLC valve. Sorry I forgot the abbreviation of the AVLC valve, it supposed to advance the intake cam for better emissions and performance. :o sure would like to see the undercarrage of the engine and oil sump:rolleyes: Ah come on:D |
I sure like the alternator mount! Did Kevin build that?

But for a comparison, here's a stock EZ30D with Pandoo(?) EFI in a 914 in Brazil: http://www.basilari.com/performance/...rack-in-a-914/ Note that this is NOT the AVCS "R" version so the "R" should be a bit stronger in power and rev. The sound of that motor makes me drunk! lol |

Most Redline dealers will not know about this kit because of how it came together (Redline/Mendeola collaboration). Mendeola has some tuning maps that take it to just over 300HP stock, naturally aspirated. I think he said that the Manxsters with the EZ30R do 0-60mph in about 3.5 secs. This Ghia is a bit lighter but doesn't have the tire width that the manxsters do. Pics of the Redline unit: http://www.basilari.com/wp-content/u...is-3-small.jpg Your oil sump pics: :) http://www.basilari.com/wp-content/u...xhaust-022.jpg Looking up: http://www.basilari.com/wp-content/u...xhaust-015.jpg Sorry, would have replied earlier but I didn't get notification of replies. Will try to fix that. |

If you ever want to turbo your engine you may want to talk to this guy.
http://www.andyforrestperformance.co.uk/index2.html he is running a 3.6 at 1000bhp . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6px1kJPDhNg I guess he knows all the tricks when it comes to getting performance out of those 6 cylinder subaru engines and he is a really nice guy aswell. Speedy |

Gear ratios play a lot at 0-100km/h / 60mph times. What kind of ratios subaru boxes have? I opted littlebit shorter ratios compared to stock with berg bus 5-speed, so i achieve on 2nd gear 100km/h at 6600rpm or 3rd gear 100km/h at 4500rpm. I did not want to have drag strip ratios like this finnish vw fellow, very short gears on a 091 with 300hp engine: 3.4 - 2.0 - 1.5 - 1.15 R+P 4.57. http://ub-52.blogspot.fi/ Mine has 3.44-1.93-1.3-1.00-0.77 R+P, but the rest can be changed if the ratios feel too long. |
This is old, but it shows some of the ratios as provided by Todd.

All systems plumbed, fluids added/bled, leaks found and fixed. Working on getting this puppy fired up. Stay tuned.
Had to do some creative work on the front end to get 17x8 wheels under the front end: https://z-n.ak.fbcdn.net/z-1-sconten...60335269_n.jpg |

By now you should have done:o something. A bad boy EZ-30, Ahhhhhh come on:(, how about a smiley face:) |
Yay, great progress, more tire fitment pics please, funny how those things become such issues when you really want to drive something hard!

Sorry guys, I posted this on a few other boards a few days ago. I can never neglect the GL crew. :)
The engine is running and sounds absolutely incredible! We have some trigger wheel sync issues to work out though. Again, this is due to our decision to use the stock Subaru trigger wheel. Kevin and Redline have done an awesome job here. So if anyone else is interested in this ECU combo just know that an EZ30R plug and play option (harness, ECU, maps) will soon be available. Data logging is now available now as well. :) At last: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_fjt3cUpVY |
Sounds great, hope to see more soon
|
|
Man that sounds amazing, I can't wait to see it turn a wheel in anger.
|
the sound is not at all what I expected, I'm more used to the EJ 4 bangers. I gotta say, your car sounds fantastic!

http://www.basilari.com/wp-content/u...xhaust-015.jpg[/QUOTE] Hi, i have a EZ30D, your engine is a EZ30R. can you tell me how much distance, from the exhaust flange to your oil pan surface. a Subaru remember suggested that it may be possible to have stub exhaust manifolds made, and mounted turbo exactly on the exhaust ports; no relocation somewhere else. Because the Subaru model EZ30D, had all 3 exhaust runners coming out at one location, it may be possible. |
