Hey RACELOOK --- any new progress. I need my daily update fix..:)

Racelook June 29th 2007 17:37

I'm verry verry bussy this time. Have almost no time free. But have been working an couple of evenings in the last 2,5 months at my bug. Making my front bonnet rustfree. For most of the people this bonnet was good enough, but I had the front and back lip removed and almost welded in by now.

Will post when there's something to show.

Any progress? Its been quite awhile.

Racelook January 30th 2008 09:32

The project goes verry slowly. Still damn busy. I have worked on it last sunday (the first time in the last 3 months:shocked: ). Been welding on the front of the beetle (for the second time). I was not pleased with the welding I did several years ago.

When something is to show I will post.

some news from racelook !!

eh eh !! :D

Racelook April 6th 2008 17:09

Last saturday i was free from work (because of an good party on friday), so I could work on the bug.

At first maked the hoodpins for the front lid on the car.
http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/66497.jpg

I had an feeling upfront that the lowest hoodpin wouldn't work, and yes I was right. Because of the curf in the hood this can't work with an hoodpin, so I will solve this on an other way.

I also have mounted several things on the bug (front and rear lid, all the fenders, rear panel and the "step-up bords"). Everything fits good except the step-up-bords this will need some work with poly to get it fit right.

Greetings Wiebrand

Racelook August 24th 2008 17:16

SO finally an verry little updae.

There is not something really special to anouch, so than I don't post anything.

But last week I had worked 3 days on the car, so I have some little to show. I'm checking all the welded metal so I have them ready for sanding.

And yep everything that is different from color than orage is welded or repaired.

So is how our workplace looks like now.

Owyeah also bought an blastingkit and and toolcar so we can start "fresh" this time.

BulletBug August 25th 2008 08:40

do u do the welding work first then blast? or the other way around??

Racelook August 25th 2008 11:40

I've done both. But I prefer first blasting and then welding. Than you have some nice cleaned metal and you know for sure that you replaced all the rotten stuff on that place.

Most of the time I first blast all the bad spots alone (that I can see) repair them or spray some epoxy over it and repair it later.

I blasted the hole body a year ago or so. And now only want to blast the spots I didn't reached good enough or the repairs I maked so I can be sure there's a good starting point for the epoxy.
