where might one find those shifters?

owdlvr March 22nd 2010 18:59

BugTech is the brand of shifter, they're out of Germany but there is a US distributor.

Those lines look schweet dude! Stab that thing back in already! (still call shotgun!) :D

Look's like you have someone looking for a BugTech shifter in this thread!:)

NO_H2O March 22nd 2010 22:21

Now there's something you should stab into my car. :D

Good to hear you've made some more progress on getting that thing back on the road. I have no room to talk, but you are a few years overdue.

petevw March 25th 2010 18:15

Nice hard piping Dave!

NO_H2O May 19th 2010 16:13

I was starting to think I would never see this but here it is. I had to have some special bolts made for the Herbie X so I used the 2 to 4 week lead time to Take care of some things and even got another trip to our favorite spot in Mexico in last week.
I still have to make breather hoses, fuel hoses, put the exhaust back on, install the sealing tin and wiring. But it is in the car.

volkdent May 19th 2010 16:31

Looking beautiful! Curious about the filters, are those going to be the final version?

Jason

NO_H2O May 19th 2010 17:25

I still need to oil them, but yes. That is it.

petevw May 19th 2010 17:36

What kind of filters are those? Special velocity stacks?

I'm going to have some clearance issues up top with the 2275 in the '52. These may work. Can you source another set?

Pete

NO_H2O May 19th 2010 20:38

The air filters are K&N and the stacks are made to hold them. I bet the stock Dell stacks could be modified with some TIG welding skills.

wrenchnride247 May 19th 2010 21:28

About time you posted some pix... you are sooo close now! Looking great!

johnnyvee May 20th 2010 10:45

So Sexy, Lets see some whole car pics don't be selfish :D

NO_H2O May 20th 2010 17:04

Right now it is covered with 3+ years of dust. It will need days of detailing to get it back in shape. When I get it out and cleaned up, I will post some pix.

NO_H2O May 20th 2010 22:41

I got the sealing tin and linkage installed today.

NO_H2O May 24th 2010 22:02

I had a couple of hours today so I made the rest of my hoses for oil, fuel and breather. Then hung the exhaust. Still need to wire it and I have a list of other things I need to do to the rest of the car.

V8SuperBeetle May 25th 2010 14:13

Love it! Very clean.

NO_H2O May 26th 2010 19:50

I replaced the trailing arm bushings and added some length to the slots in the adjustable spring plates so i can get to 0 toe. I installed the left cup brace segment but will have to cut and re-weld the lower/aft tab for the right side. It fit with the dummy engine but the stroker engine has the exhaust too close to the down rod on that side. I think I will have to drop the exhaust to cut the tab free. Put it back up to tack it, then pull it back down to finish the welds.

wrenchnride247 May 26th 2010 21:49

Hmmm... minor technical difficulty.

NO_H2O May 27th 2010 06:46

It happens.

Humble May 27th 2010 13:38

2 steps forward, 1 step back, the story of any fabricator :)

NO_H2O May 28th 2010 08:04

My new shift light came yesterday. Added it to my list of things to do before I get back on the road.

petevw May 28th 2010 11:38

Looking good Dave!

volkdent May 28th 2010 12:22

What are those going for? I hope you don't mind but I may want to copy, it's very clean and simple and does a great job of what it needs to do.

Jason

NO_H2O May 28th 2010 21:08

I think it was $190 shipped from down-unda.

NO_H2O June 2nd 2010 14:34

After tossing a couple of ideas around on were to mount my new shift light. I cut a plate to fit between the steering wheel and hub, drilled it up, painted it and mounted the shift light. I had to buy a 3 wire spiral cord and 3 pin connector so I can turn the wheel and allow the cord to stretch. I still need to wire it all in.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...7.jpg~original
I got most of the engine bay wiring done. Still need to rewire the tag light and run a new pick to the third brake light. I cleaned up all the old wiring and ran everything thru heat shrink tubing, then wrapped it in nylon spywrap were it needed extra protection.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...8.jpg~original
Still need to wire in the shift light, 2 relays for fuel pump and Mallory 6AL and wire the 6AL. I might need to wire in a Tach adapter if it does not work with the new CDI box.
My list is getting shorter. Only 3/4 of a legal pad page.

wrenchnride247 June 2nd 2010 20:32

Wow, you got some cool touches going on. Hmm 3/4 page on a legal pad huh. I think my list is an entire legal pad :lmao: . Keep going... I still have shotgun right?
