Nothing too exciting to update - picked up the billet spacers for the front wheels (After having the beam narrowed 80mm to regain the turning circle).

front a spacer 21mm original porsche and rear 31mm.
Total price for aluminium spacer 600€ or 660 dollars.

Dasdubber May 21st 2005 06:32

I paid $300 Australian dollars for the pair of front spacers and same for the rears (can order custom widths).

Are you keeping the FUchs on there? I'de like to snag up those Porsche Twist wheels :D

Dasdubber May 22nd 2005 08:08

Nah Fuchs aren't staying - they are borrowed off my brother in law (they will be on his ghia soon). Speaking of the Cups....

I performed some custom treatment to the Porsche Cup 3 replica wheels....firstly I took them to a machine shop and had the lips of the rims machined off so they were a flat profile rather than rounded. Because there were some casting marks I then hit them with 360, then 600 then 1200 grit wet and dry to gradually abolish the marks and sanding scratches.

Next onto the buffing wheels to polish them up. Then came the masking tape and paper....followed by some grey metallic base coat followed by four coats of clear. I wanted something a little more agressive than the stock treatment, and something different. Pretty happy with how they turned out.

Has your brother-in-law put them on his Ghia yet? My main question is if they fit without too much trouble and how much more room is available there.

Thanks in advance.

To err is human, but if the eraser wears out before the pencil does you're a (insert expletive here) idiot!

Dasdubber May 23rd 2005 21:23

He hasn't put the fuchs on his ghia just yet. He will be running 4 wheel discs (CB performance all round) - there is a red kg convertible here in Brisbane that is running them and both the front and rear had to be narrowed.

I anticipate that there will be at least 2 inches narrowed from the front end (if not more) and when he converts to IRS he will be narrowing the IRS arms to try and tuck them in. He currently has BRMs with 165 tyres on there with swing axle (short axles) and they almost hit the gaurds so the fuchs will never fit without some work. Here is his car next to mine:

I don't post much on her, but the car looks awesome! :D I havn't said it yet. It's going to be Great. Wanna paint my Ghia? ;)

Nice Ghia! :agree:

Please pass along my compliments?

Dasdubber May 24th 2005 07:22

Thanks Mikey - I shall pass on the compliment! After painting my car I think I need a break before my next paint job though!! ;)

Managed to get the rubber back on today and bolted the wheels in place (20mm spacers in position now)....should look nice in the sunlight - they're a little darker than first expected but should still be sweet.
