Last follow up was today and I have a green light to start back. Might get back to it this afternoon.
Jonathan, I hope you dry sump project goes well. Did you get your new ECU sorted out?

Any news from the holidays?

I need some more shims for the pushrod tubes. When the engine is warmed up, the "O"rings on the outboard ends start to show and oil starts to seep from them. I ordered another set of .132" shims but they are a bit too much so I ordered what I hope will be a set of .040" shims that should do the job. I have over a hour of run time on it and have pulled the lifters after each 30 minutes and they look good. After I get the shims in, I will up my idle jets and get that dialed in and get another hour of run time done before I stab it in the car.

I did not get PR tube shims in time for this weekend so I did the disc brake upgrade to my son's 73 GL. Also di the front sway bar upgrade. Got everything finished and was putting my tools in my car and had Ryan throw the wheels on so he could try out his new stuff. The wheels hit the calipers so we were done. They are the early wide lip style Riviera's that you see on a few 914's. I guess they are earlier than I thought. I do have a set of 8 spokes that he can run untill he finds a set of 2L Fuchs.
Anyway, I got the PR tube shims in the mail today. My next set of off days should bring some progress.

wrenchnride247 January 5th 2010 23:18

To bad the Rivieras don't fit on you son's bug now (I hate eight spokes).

Glad you got the shims already...not long now.:)

Got a chance to get some more run time on it today. I will inspect the lifters one more time and get some more 93 octane fuel and do a final tune on it, fit the sealing tin and pull it off the test stand.

I moved this to the build section. Thought I would throw in a pic of my transaxle. Its from Rancho and has all the tricks. 3.88 R/P and an 0.82 4th.

wrenchnride247 January 15th 2010 23:13

:woohoo: stab that thing in there, and get it on the road!

Good for you, Dave.
