Made a new attempt on a working gear select mechanism, seems to work.
http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/131977.jpg There will be zero movement here. http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/131975.jpg Paul. |
For the future Nitrous plans I need (after some advise) 4 fuel lines. one supply/return for the efi and one supply/return for the NOS. So I have being shopping today.
http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/132021.jpg Paul. |
Fuel line nr. 3 en 4 are in place.
4 connections up front http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/132028.jpg And 4 connections in the back. http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/132029.jpg Paul. |
I love all the hard lines, I wonder if you've considered vibration and fatigue cracking over time?

Hi Jason, Yes I thought about that. Inside the chassis are a few steel tubes welded to the side. All the fuel lines are mounted with tyraps to that tubes. I mounted a little rubber hose around the tubes to make sure the lines don't rub. Paul. |
Getting closer with the coilover set-up 3.0

almost done, just need to weld the adjusters when they are finished.

944S anti rollbar
http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/132176.jpg Hi, the coil over shocks with the upgraded mountng bolt. I have read and read again where this coilover shock is great as a secondary assist. However the stock torsion bars are better. I would add the 944 sway bars. Man I sure wish this courld be really nailed down. I have three sets of 944 trailing arms, one with the sway bar; all early version (snubbers):o, as to which is better/stronger. Please believe I'm not trying to rain on your post, I love it, I just have questions. I have real reservation about cutting into the torsion bar housing. In order to, for me lesson the possibility of a 915 trans fitting. I have reserved possibily using a much weaker in poundage torsion bar and the coil oves. The ideal of the 902, because of length, knowing that it has a weak first gear; rather than touching that strong point in the rear suspension. Even when they modify by cutting out areas, gives me the shivers about breakage in the exact area. This Porsche bolt that you use for the lower coilover mount will be all that support your car/ride height. Will this be a dialy driver? |

I understand your concerns but I wanted the original width. using 7J fuchs and aluminum trailingarms meant I had to cut the torsion tube. the lower shock bolt is disined to carry the weight, this is why i bought it and not use a home made bracket. All comments are apprecieted;) It will not be a daily driver. it will be my "good wetter" and VW meeting ride. Paul. |
Rear of the car is now adjustable. Coilover set-up 3.0 is now finished

I'm sure it will be fine, The loads are well distributed in your design, brilliant height adjuster idea, but the lower bolts would keep me awake, I know they are super tough, but could you not run a tube through the arm, TIG weld it in and through bolt it?. as if you don't have enough to do already lol.:)

Cheers Paul. |
Those arms in much heavier 944/944T race cars are running pure coil-overs and that single shear bolt on their arms. I am doing the same in my Bug and have no thoughts drilling or welding the cast aluminum arms. If I was that worried I would rather replace the arms with the heavier Mendeola arms. I am working on making the upper shock mount double shear on two chassis now and will post on my build thread as it plays out.

Hey Paul,
I'm really impressed by the quality of your build! Where did you buy the red brackets for the brake line? A set of them would be nice for my project. Regards, Tobi |
Very tidy, the stainless hardline looks great.

Not much of an update but there is some progress.
Finished the rear brakelines. Checked the gearbox, cleaned it, relocated the breather, used new seals and gaskets and gave it some paint. http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/139514.jpg http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/139515.jpg http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos/139516.jpg |
