Very cool, keep us updated!

It looks interesting but I would check your fuel gauge out though!

Into it... Can you tell me where you got that really nice base for your shifter?
Also, what exhaust and ECU are you running? I can't wait to get back to working on my build... thanks for the pics. |
The base for the shifter was the center section from a 914 found a wreck one and cut it out and trimed it down.
|
Looks like you're off to a good start. I presume you know your heads are going to stick out of the rear bodywork though with the trans in that position?

G'day
I love the wrx dash cluster! Did u put the aftermarket headers on the engine. I have found that they hang alot lower than the standard headers & u also lose bottom end torque. Most of the big power wrx's here in Oz still run the standard headers, just ported with a bigger cross over pipe between each bank. I have done this to mine & it made boost come on earlier & smoother. hope this helps regards Jak |
I'm a little worried about the how low the header hangs down the only reason i have that one is a Friend had it laying around. The engine was originally a twin turbo motor so i ditched the stock twin turbo stuff Ive heard nothing but bad things about trying to get that to work
As for the the heads sticking out i might have to remake my transmission mounts to get it to go back a little bit more so i can try to squeeze the timing covers im waiting to get my adapter kit from Kennedy to start test fitting i set the gear box up for using a type 4 engine first than changed my mind and decided to go Subaru. jmd I'm planing on running a magasquirt ecu Ive emailed the guys at diyautotune.com he gave me a list of the things i will need to order to work with the turbo and the coil on plug subie set up about $600 or so for the set up thanks for all the comments guys :) |
Sean,
Got a Bugat5speed sump in stock if you happen to have clearance issue.. not a bad time to take advantage of the weak euro.. Just a thought ;) VR Alex |
whats is it going for will need a sump soon need to get my ecu orderd first if you still have it when im ready i check with you thanks for the post

little more work done and i have some new parts
my kennedy adapter plate going to do some test fitting this weekend if the weather holds out to see how much i will need to move the transmission or cut the body http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j2...b.jpg~original bought my radiator and started cutting and test fitting a bit http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j2...8.jpg~original http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j2...b.jpg~original going to sit it down a little lower and a littler ferther forward just need to cut a bit more http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j2...e.jpg~original |
the adapter plate faces the otherway around ;)
spin it so that side is facing the trans |
good call buggin havent had much time to mess with the adapter yet so thats good to know
|
few updates and new pics
installed the engine for the first mock up of things ended up not being able to move my trans any ferther foward so had to settel with the timeing covers sticking out of the body but ohwhell. hear are some pics http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j2...e.jpg~original http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j2...5.jpg~original http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j2...5.jpg~original plan on making small domes to cover the timming covers shouldent look to bad when im done. |
What about using the bug@5speed nosecone on the trans? That should move it far enough to get things under the bodywork without cutting the torsion bar housing...
|
i have the stock 911 nose cone milled down and welded up i halve about a half of an inch more that the trans can move forward but then i will have to remake all of my mounts plus relocate my slave cylender wich i have mounted between the frame horn and the gear box so i ill deal with a little body work should be fun to make look good.
some more updates finaly found my camara to take some more recent pics turbo and intercooler mocked up for the first time http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j2...9.jpg~original http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j2...0.jpg~original body is not going to be as bad as i thought http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j2...3.jpg~original http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j2...4.jpg~original |
Its looking good. Keep at it!

3 Attachment(s)
hears a few new pics pulled everything back out and cut the body back a bit to try and slide the trans a little ferther back got about a 1/4 inch more dont think it will help much but worth the try also have the engine on the stand redy to make my wiring harness for the ecu wich i finaly finished will post pics of that soon
|
Progress is good!
Is that a wrx intercooler? If it is and you're planning on more boost than stock I'd consider getting an STi or Perrin one. Not only from a cooling perspective but also flow, the stock wrx one I believe is a little restrictive at higher boost numbers (15+). |
Cool swap. Looking good so far.
|
going to keep the boost close to stock for now so that should do at the moment will upgrade later
|
looking good! that should be loads of fun when you get done, how much heavier is the suby engine than a vw engine?
