Remmele rear coilovers

I've bought some rear adjustable coilovers from Remmele for my 1979 "vert". As I was installing the parts I was wondering if I could use the original VW bolts etc to mount the setup to my VW. As I'm using alloy 944 arms that use a M14 bolt on the lowerside of the coilover I'm not worried over the strenght. But on the topside of the coilover there is only the VW M12 bolt that holts the coilover to the body. There must be a big load on them as the total weight on the back rests on them. Is this strong anough? Shoud I buy stronger bolts? Help welcome.

Total weight? What did you do then to the torsion bars? Remove them or slacken them one or two splines?

As for advise on the bolts: What has Remmele say about this? Surely when you purchase items from him, he will aswer your q's readily.

Thanks,
Walter

pictures...

I sure would like to see some pictures of the entire coil-over set-up BEFORE it is bolted on. I also am very jealous that you got something you ordered from Remmele. Please post some pictures of both sides of the set-up (inside and outside).

Thanks,
Randy

There are quite a few pictures of the setup in the suspension gallery of the coilover and the springplates.

OK, how about uninstalled pictures...

I would like to look at the units when they are not attached to the suspension. i.e. sitting on a table top. Everything I have found on this site shows them installed. Am I wrong?

Thanks,
Randy

contact with Remmele

It seemed that the most of the personel of Remmele is on holiday so I had problems to reach them. After sending some E-mails no reply. Todat I send in a fax and 30 minutes later I had mister Remmele himself on the phone, what a service!!! He told me that it is no problem to use the original bolts. In all those years he has not heared of problems with these bolts. As for Rsi, my setup is already under the car so no luck with the pictures. I only can make them on the car. In about one week I can make the pictures because then are the longer springs in house that Remmele wil send me. Can you wait till then? I needs those longer springs because the coilovers are bolted to my "vert" that is heavy on the backside.

no problem on the wait.

Thanks,

Randy
