Sneak peek: Project Pepper

1 Attachment(s)
Here's the latest project I'm working on. Just a sneek peek to let you guys know what's happening. This is the craziest brake setup ever to be put on a ACVW.

Just a reality check before the 'haters' get verbal; No car NEEDS this setup. You want it, I know I do, but you don't need it. Here's are the highlights:

Performance: Retina detaching
Looks: Killer
Sex-Apeal: Infinite
Fade: Impossible to fade these. I'll rephrase, improbable
Overkill: Definately
Price: If you have to ask, you can't afford

These are gonna be on a T1 that'll be terrorizing the street of Utah soon. I don't know how I'm gonna trump this setup.

While I'm blabbing, I'd like to sincerly thank all you guys. Without your support, I wouldn't be providing these products/services. You guys keep VdubCustoms in action. It's customers that motivate me to push the design/manufacturing envelope. Thank you. It's not a cliche, I'm talking the "look-you-in-the-eyes-with-a-firm-handshake-and-say-thank-you" type of thank you.

Easy,
Lanner

Holy crap! I would need to upgrade my seatbelts first. :D Twelve and half inches? That's amazing!

What I wouldn't give for 12½ inches... ;)

(I didn't think there were haters at this site. Must've missed them.)

vujade June 23rd 2005 10:13

are you those 6 piston calipers? or bigger?

rip June 23rd 2005 14:26

6 pots yea I second the better seat belt notion. jeez, i mean yea jeez. that is sweet.

flat June 23rd 2005 22:47

I might have overstated my case with the 'haters' comment. I just wanted to pre-empt any overkill comments. I know it's overkill. There is no way anyones ACVW would warrent such a setup. If you car really NEEDS these brakes, I'll buy myself a 'man-diaper' and you can take me for a thrill ride. :)

Everyone is cool here, you guys are alright.

A tech question: how do you insert the image in the text without having to open it as an attachment? I've tried messing around with it, but without much success. Technology and I have an abrasive relationship.

you need to host the pics somewhere (like on your site), put the cursor where you want the pic in your post, click on the image icon above the text entry area and input the URL of where the pic is hosted.

I know what those are :D Lanner, did you get my last email about the stut bar we were talking about?

flat June 24th 2005 00:09

Yeah, they're from the 'Pepper S'. I replied to your email.

Whoa...13inches......

Not cross drilled though :o

Can't wait to see finished work!!!!!

Chris Percival July 29th 2005 13:06

Whats that in normal money? 330mm? Large!

flat July 31st 2005 14:02

Normal money? Hubs and brackets $C700. Add your own calipers and rotors. The pics are a little deceiving (parallex error), the rotors are 350x34.

Sorry, I meant metric actually.. :)

oicdn August 6th 2005 06:11

damn......that's big....

This is my setup

Yeah, this is my setup and i didn't even realize lanner put these on here, you're right no 1800 lb. VW needs the 6 pots. Yeah, I'm doing the 6 pots front and rear, just like the Carrera GT. Mounted pictures are on there way. I'm putting every penny into this car and I have a very unhappy girlfriend with every little bit of progress she sees. Neglected  ? Understand that i'm only 21 and i have no life because of this car...BUT JUST IMAGINE WHAT IT'S GONNA BE LIKE WHEN I'M DONE! 500 hp, I have to be able to push these 35 lbs a piece rotors. Over the top aerodynamics (smooth undercarriage front to rear, various hood treatments [lotus style hood], I hate the idea but I have to put a spoiler) I want to be able to get to 160 mph with stability (If you're gonna kill my high hopes, don't say ANYTHING about the last). I will send you pictures when the brakes are mounted up.
THANKS LANNER!

P.S. If you measure from your knuckle to your elbow, on the top of your forearm, that is roughly how huge these calipers are!

DOWN WITH IMPORT TUNERS!

lazylongboarder August 6th 2005 18:41

Forgot another thing... they are gonna be cross drilled. You can't go all out on brakes like this and have a solid rotor. Porsche did the solid rotor because the "holes" get clogged up with dirt when off-roading. No one produces a crossdrilled/slotted rotor for the front of a Cayenne turbo, so of coarse lanner can do it.

Thats funny, I like that. By the way, the rotors are 13.9"... so they're huge.
