Hey Chris,
Got your text re my 901 setup:

everything I am using is T1, throwout bearing, shifter, flywheel, clutch, starter, engine mount, etc

the only thing that is porsche is the tranny 902/1 to be exact.

These modded T1 parts are cheaper and hold up the same as porsche.

hey thanks Bry

got it all hooked up but for some reason I have no Clutch Adjustment
So I'm going to have to take it apart again an See what's Up
thanks again tho.

chug-a-bug,
How is your shifting pattern?
Was it rough to get setup and dialed in, and also did you mount the trans. so it used the original throughput hole or did you cut out the bottom of your pan like most tech docs mention? did you use the volvo motor mounts for the 'bushings'?

any photos of the modified TI parts? I would love to see what linkage your running.

you mention using the TI shifter unit have you run into any issues with the shift pattern? i mean running from first to second? bumping into reverse?

finally, what motor do you have this hooked up to?

chug_A_bug August 11th 2008 05:01

Hey Jmd

well the 901 is in and I'm just working out the Shift linkage now and getting it set up, I got it From Sandeep it was his old setup
got the Trans in and it's Hooked up to just a little 1641
and about the shifter I'm using a Scat and Not the Stock.

Chris.

jmd November 24th 2008 00:28

chug,
made any headway on getting this system setup and running?
im curious about any 'alignment / shifting pattern' problems you might run into?

hope all is well.

chug_A_bug November 24th 2008 07:35

Hey JMD

Well it's up and Running and Shifts Great.. no real Problems
just took my time and Got it worken Right..

Chris.

jmd June 30th 2009 12:00

Chug can you tell me about your 901 output flanges? What cv's / axles are you running, and are you still running stock type 1 trailing arms?

chug_A_bug June 30th 2009 17:42

Hey..
Soo I'm using the Stock T1 output Flanges and T1 CV's
got all Stock T1 trailing arms too.
hope that helps anything else just ask :)

Chris.

jmd July 1st 2009 09:43

The knowledge is good. but the outcome is a bummer as I have upgraded to the 944 gear in hopes for higher strength from the larger axles and cast arms for the suby motor's high output...
thank you for following up.

chug_A_bug July 9th 2009 01:22

hey guys... Soo I have my 901 in and I was just thinking that I should put a temp gage
and I just wanted to See what temp I would buy one for?? what do these 901 run at??

thanks
Chris.

petevw July 9th 2009 01:57

Temp guage on the trans?

gonebuggy July 9th 2009 09:03

Chris,

trans temp is WAY overkill. The less gauges you have the better IMHO. Less weight, less complication, less to go wrong.

I agree with the sentiment that 'keep it simple' but have you ever wondered why aircraft have so many gauges?

I take the view that any information is good information and you can't have too much of it. It all comes down to what you need and what you do with it.

Most aircraft gauges are for navigation purposes;) I agree though, they do have more engine monitoring systems. BUT they are designed systems. Hours of research goes into figuring out optimal operating conditions and calibration. Slapping on an autometer of vdo gives you something to look at, but what do you actually gain?

I run a tach and oil temp, I think that is on the threshold of too many...

Alex

CLKWRK July 9th 2009 11:43

I like to have the extra gages like the 911 set up but that doesnt include trans temp.
overkill imo

Anyways Chris, eventually you are going to have to make space for your boost gage ;)

chug_A_bug July 9th 2009 12:11

HAHAHA ok guys thanks I just Didn't know if I should be watching it... Soo I'll go
with Alex More weight = less Speed ;)
but YES Bryan that Boost Gage Needs to Come Soon just Need the $$$

Chris.

jmd July 16th 2009 00:10

well, but this brings up an interesting question. Do we need trans coolers? with gear angled jets?
would this help in the life of the trans?

anyone running that type of rigging?

914 side-shift trans with a billet intermediate plate along with those extra lines... I'm bettin' this is for a 914 track car running a 300+hp six, yee-haw!! :D

jmd August 8th 2009 11:36

yeah, mine may end up looking like that by the time I'm done with it. Currently looking at the alu. side plate as well as intermediate plate... but those two parts are coming in around $1K not including the oil system... however I am going to be pushing 300HP in my project... man it's going to be a challenge learning how to drive this car... carefully.
