petevw January 21st 2008 22:55

Me too!

Anybody else from the GTA going?

Pete

Lazarus January 22nd 2008 10:32

looks like i may be there with the new 2316. its hard to tell right now. even if the new plant is not ready i may still come and watch.

NO_H2O January 22nd 2008 19:27

The progress of my Type 4 will hinge on heads and exhaust.

ohh really.... do tell. Sold the 2275?

So is it a 2316-200?

c'mon, spill the beans.:lmao:

yellow73 January 22nd 2008 23:55

I hope to get there. It would be great to have a strong Type IV showing in 2008, mine was the only one to dyno last year, I think....

petevw January 22nd 2008 23:56

Nigel, what power did you put down?

If there is a strong T4 showing, I MAY convert.

drivablity is the biggest reason to convert. after nigel drove my car at bug-a-palooza the first thing he said was it seemed like forever b4 the thing wanted to go. btw that was the 2275's last drive b4 it got on a boat to the land down under.movin on to bigger and better things. its all about the torque.

yellow73 January 23rd 2008 22:01

Pete,
If I remember correctly it did 128HP at the wheels.
It is the same car and engine that I drove to Savannah from Atlanta and back (250 miles each way) without missing a beat in 90+ degree heat.
This is with a 2270 built in 2002 with 8.5:1 CR.
Laz brings up a good point - it is very driveable - it can do 30 in 4th and then keeps pulling until you let off.

petevw January 24th 2008 02:57

Sooo.... whose T4 can i take around the block? :D

NO_H2O January 29th 2008 20:05

Pete, no I still have the 2275 and it is for sale. I'm sure we can get you a ride in a T-4 powered vehicle.
We just got back from a brutal road trip to Baton Rouge delivering a Bus, Herbie Jr. go kart and fit a Tilton # pedal set w/3 master cylinders in Herbie X. Dave (Herbie X's owner) said he will try to clear a spot in his calender to drive up for Dyno Day.

Really? I'm interested, please PM me the details.

Panelfantastic February 2nd 2008 19:17

Accomodations? I saw where a bunch said they were staying in Perry? Looks quite a ways from the dyno event, definately going in the wrong direction for anybody coming in from the north. Why not stay in Peachtree City?

NO_H2O February 2nd 2008 21:23

Days Inn or Best Western in Peachtree City were the ones for Dyno Day last year. I don't have phone info for them but I'm sure they have info online.

Panelfantastic February 4th 2008 21:33

I don't have anything to bring to the dyno but I am trying to make plans for being there on Saturday. Sounds like it will be a lot of fun, even just for a spectator.

Jeff-

NO_H2O February 5th 2008 21:35

Let me know and I will get your 6 rib over to the event for you.

Panelfantastic February 5th 2008 22:32

Thanks Dave! Was waiting to be sure I can get off for the event. Definately planned to settle up while I'm there. Sending you a PM.

Jeff-

petevw February 6th 2008 23:50

I've stayed in Peachtree City for the Dyno day, and in Perry for raceday. Will do it again like this. The Dyno was right around the corner from the Hotel. Peachtree City to Perry is quite the drive to do in the morning of the dyno.

Need to do some basic maintenance on the car and i'll be ready for the drive.

Will there be another VW show at the dragstrip? I'll shine up the TDI and enter it in the watercooler class. :lmao:

Long distance award? This was my drive last year: :D

Might go through Detroit this year.

yellow73 February 7th 2008 23:56

I hear Detroit is nice this time of year......

Surgery recovery is taking longer than I expected, but I'm hoping to still tackle my electrical woes by next weekend and have the bug at Dyno Day.

The GT show is end of March. I'd love to see some regional GLs there. Details here: http://www.gatechautoshow.com/

petevw March 6th 2008 16:39

Fellow GL'rs, come by and say Hi! :D

I'll be driving this:

See you this weekend Pete...

NO_H2O March 10th 2008 06:33

It was great to see Panel, Nigel, Wrench (and family), Jake/Beth and PeteVW. Beth's car is looking great and put down some big numbers. Nigel took to the track and I missed it. Pete, I hope the trip home was smooth and the engine serves you well. I hope the 6 rib works well for Panel too.

Panelfantastic March 10th 2008 08:32

Thanks Dave! Good to see you and Wrench also. The biggest thing the 6 rib and the dyno day will do is getting me motivated to get something aircooled up and going again.
I think my buddy Randy that was with me (ex Cali resident, jst moved back to GA) was most impressed by Beth's car. He loved the look of the whole car and the nasty way the engine sounded. He's so jaded by the sand scene and hanging out with the Lauffers, it takes 500-600hp just to get his attention most times.

It was one great weekend!

Seeing Nigel givin' it hell on the strip was awesome! He was absolutely shaking in his boots after that first run :nervous:

And spankin' some smack-talkin' California ass on the dyno Saturday was pretty sweet too! I think somebody is having to eat a lot of crow after all the smack talk that went on over at the BKC forum the past few weeks.

Thanks to No H20 and Wrench-n-Ride for all the help getting my car ready for the event. It certainly would NOT have happened without all their help.

Wally March 10th 2008 16:41

I would really like a pic of the finished GL cabrio!
3 posts and no hp numbers of Beth's car?? So, what did it make and at what rpm?

NO_H2O March 10th 2008 19:52

I can't remember what RPM it pulled but I think it made 197 HP and 202 lbft of torque at the wheels.

It put down 195 at the wheels and 206 on torque. It was all at around 5500 rpm.

This is a pic someone took of the car in the show area at Reynolds on Sunday.

massIVe 79 vert March 10th 2008 20:09

Yellow73 (Nigel) put down 127 hp and 142 ft/lbs torque with his 2270 :)

Massive Type IV March 10th 2008 20:32

It was a great weekend.. Spanking Chico's Type 1 ass was so damn worth all the work that we all had to put into the car to make it happen!

Beth's engine turned out better than I had hoped and I still don't know how I got the throttle response so damn intense.. It must be the .024 deck height coupled to the 10.5:1 and 89 octane along with the small cam and twin plug heads :-)

wait till next year... Plans were made today for what we'll be debuting and what it'll be equipped with :-)
