New 2 the scene

I am relatively new to the VW scene and just purchased a 1972/3 GT Beetle, looking to update to the GL (which I prefer).

Looking for any type of advice on changing to 17" alloys, bug curently has 15" steel wheels on it.

What do I need to change (suspension, brakes) etc...
Any advice is welcome.

You can just get adapters to fit what style of wheel you want to fit. But will limit your width, Until you decide to jump off in the deep end of the "German Look" pool, then the skys the limit. What are you going for?

Budget is #1 and often dictates priorities. What are you looking to do with the car (daily driver, autocross, etc) and how much are you looking to put into it? i.e. Doing wheels first will look good, but will negatively impact acceleration unless you address power. Just about everyone on here will tell you suspension, brakes and lose weight first.

Looking to change the look and drive into GL bug.
Need to be realistick though as I intend to use it as a daily driver (although it's a second car).
Haven't realy got a budget, will spend what it takes. I would like to change the suspension, brakes and wheels, also read on here about altering the antiroll bars and torsion bars/leaves etc...

Going for looks, quick and reliable.

When you find the wheels you want to use, get the brakes sorted at that time. This way you are not redoing (spending $$$) something that was temporary to fit wheels.

Oh yeah...welcome to the GL forums. :)
