Clay Bar
Has anyone used a Clay Bar system?
I got one today and I'm gonna try it out. If it works, I'll post up some before and afters. It says it's good for overspray and contaminants....We'll see. |
yeah it works for getting some contaminats out, but wont get paint over spray off (like if some one did a bad job painting the car) but will get rattle can overspray off (like if you had been painting another object near your car, and got over spray on it).
It's a good step before waxiing your car or hand polishing. but it's not needed if your going to be machine polishing your car. It gets the paint super smooth, you can feel the difference. Jonathan |
Well...It sure does get the paint super smooth! I gave it a go and was pleasantly surprised. It DID indeed get the over spray off of the bug! Hell, it even took it off the windows. I'm going to hand polish it now and see what it looks like. But the old Clay Bars get a thumbs up in my book!:agree:

I STILL haven't used my Meguiar's clay bar kit yet. Hopefully I can get to it before the snow starts. There's alot more shade where I'm moving to and they suggest you do that out of direct sunlight for some reason. PICS!!! I wanna see how good Al looks! I need some inspiration for Skittle. :p |
I used a clay bar on my dad's old convertible a few years ago.
The system took all weekend to do (remove old wax build-up, clay bar the car, hand polish the car to get swirls, etc... out and then apply a nice new topcoat of wax) but the results were outstanding. I thought I had a photo of the car at the office, but I don't. Definitely worth the effort in my books. Doug |
it did wonders to get the headliner glue overspray off of mine...except i keep finding more all of the time. dude did a great job on my headliner and rag, but not much concern as to where he was pointing that gun.
