my 56 money pit
the body have the channels removed and a metal bead instead of the plstic guard beading.
I,m using a 74 pan but removing the front and using a Mitshubishi L300 front end http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...2.jpg~original this allows me to use the front disc & 7" wheels t comply with road laws in Victoria Australia it will be channelled 40mm higher to lower car and keep wheel geometry. I,ll be welding in a complete 944 rear end 60mm higher for the same reasons as the front. http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...8.jpg~original rear brakes honda NSX stud pattern allows better selection of wheels front the same stud pattern http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...7.jpg~original gearbox porsche 915 . http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...3.jpg~original wheels will be 18,s rear & 17,s front. |

wow looks like you will have your work cut out for the next few years keep us posted , looks like it is going to be really interesting

Definitely keep us updated on this one :)
What engine do you plan on running? Rich |
Hi 56oval,
nice project. Saw that you will be working with 915 gearbox. If you need short nose cone, front/rear mounting, axle flanges 100 mm,... ---> then have a look on www.bugat5speed.de Martin Bott |
bug@5speed
Martin is your web site in english yet I,ve logged on a few times.
Motor that is the question ej20,er33,13bt,type4 turbo or 2.7 ltr. I,ll get the pan sorted first if I go with late jap the engineer wants a torsion test done .bought the honda nsx front brakes today . |
I like that you have a plan. I, too, would like to see the progress as it happens.
|
Can you provide some additional detail about your front suspension. What body style did it come from? I'm guessing a truck? What it the distance between the wheel mounting flanges? Great project, let's see more progress!
|
the front end is out of a 1984 Mitsubishi L300 van Hot rodders in Australia have used them. The other front end I thought of was Fiat 124cc .
|
It's going to be a great project! I just stumbled onto this, nice to have you in the loony bin!

Malcolm,
is the 944 torsion tube exactly the same length? Rich |
same width as super beetle and the steel arms are the same except for the longer axle & larger drive flange.you could do the same with the orignal torsion tube ,but in australia road adrs are a pain and using 944 rear helps me out.
