Steering box options

I will probably need a new steering box. Why are these boxes so pricey? Makes the R&P conversion more and more appealing. I know there use to be a rebuild kit for our boxes but they don't make that anymore. Wonder why the manufacture of the new units doesn't offer parts? Is there any other option, why hasn't there been more options available? VDubEngineering maybe some opportunity for you here.....

No idea where you are but...
VForce in sydney has rebuild kits, ive just rebuilt mine ready to go in when im finished the rest of the car, no complaints about quality as far as putting it together goes anyway, www.beetleracing.com :)

No mention of their kit on the website?
I will contact them. Thanks for the info.

Curious about people running r/p on a beam front end?
anyone have any luck and insights? I have a brand new
steering box but have been looking at r/p to help bring
down the bump steering a little?

Bumpity bump?

Rack and pinion setup?

I did look into this, however after driving my 44k KM beetle when I got it, see no need for R&P at the moment as a good steering box is far superior to a sloppy one.

I will continue with this at some point though, basically the same as the classic centrum one - search for R+P on here and you'll find it
