Rear Trailing Arms

Questions on the install. Maybe I have the wrong arms, but it is not a simple bolt on as I read it is. The spring plates seem to be a challange because they are a completely different bolt pattern, does the plate have to be reworked to attach. These are turbo arms onto a irs pan. Even the front pivot mount is not the same, different size of bushings??? Any help would be appreciated, Darren

You have to put the VW bushings in the Porsche arm. Also, you have to put the Porsche spring plates on the VW pan. Then it will bolt on.

There is also a place that has to be clearanced for one of the bolt/nut heads on the spring plate.

Thanks, back to the wreckers I go! Is there a easy way to get the bushing out of the beetle arm, the Porsche arm came off very easy.

Hi

There is two nut & bolts on the spring plate for the height adjustment, one is an eccentric nut, the other just clamps the set height, its the one nearest the torsion bar. You need to weld the one that clamps on the backside because you cant get a spanner on it, I welded mine on and ground it back a bit so that I needed to take less meat out of the chassis.

I twisted the metal insert out with vise grips then cut the bushing out with a knife. went fast after I figured it out.

Since I want to keep the steel IRS arms I haven't looked too much into this conversion. I was wondering what you guys use for the outter mount of the spring plate cover (the 4 bolt plate with the torsion bar bushing).
