Window Tint

I'm looking for someone or somewhere that can do window tint on the back window of my 74 Std. Beetle. I took my car to a local shop and they tried twice and did not succeed. So now looking to get it done somewhere or somehow i live in Southern Ontario Canada if someone could be of help let me know Thx.

Window Tint

I had mine done when I had the windows out. I just had to be careful when I was putting them back in.

The windows are easy to take out and put back.

Worked great for me.

Let me guess...the window has factory defrost on it. I got a non-defrost window to replace mine. (no one could do mine either) I think they make a "spray on" tint, but don't know how good it is.

Window is a non defrost and they said that if it had a defrost then they could tint it np.

defrost vs non

They probably would use the defrost lines to hide the edges of the strips.

Usually on a curved widow you have to cut the film into strips to do it properly but hiding where the strips meet is difficult

Many shops prefer the defrost lines as it helps them hide the edges of the strips of film

Most of the DIY spray on films are useless and almost impossible to apply evenly.

I have not investigated window tint but my dad has it on his Passat (which obviously has the defroster grid on the rear window). I liked the side windows of his car okay but driving his car at night annoys me.

Headlights in the rearview mirror have an effect similar to a star filter in photography where the light refracts in different directions. It is especially annoying to me on the interstate when I have about a half-dozen or more sets of headlights. Plus, I cannot tell what kind of cars are behind me.

If I tint the rear window of next project, it will be a gridless rear window.
