adapting brembos to CB kit ?

Has anyone looked at what it would take to bolt Brembo calipers (of any sort) to the CB disc brake kit ?
Front and rear ?

Thanks, Dan

I am currently trying to install 996 calipers front and rear with the CB spindles. I plan to make custom adapter blocks once I get the rotors mounted. When I get them sorted out, I will let you know what my solution is.

rumor is - that the 944t calipers will bolt right up to the cb front spindles (which are late ghia ? not sure)
If that's so - what rotors to use ?

Thanks for the info on the rears.

keep me posted.

Thanks, Dan

You have to do minor mods to the spindle to bolt up 944T calipers.
You have to cut away the lower thread....mill or spot face the material next to it to the same thickness of the top thread....drill a new hole for the lower bolt and tap both holes to M12 I believe.
I suugest tapping the upper hole, mounting the disk and see where you need to take the material off and where to drill.
You also need to space out the caliper with a washer to center it properly.

Tech article

Dan,

I think that this will be a topic in the up coming 'Tech' articles of the main site.

There are enough people who have done this conversion so having the information in one spot makes sence.

so........should I be at the salvage yard scaring up some 944t front and rear calipers ?

bugsoup July 30th 2002 00:40

I have yet to find a local salvage yard that has Porsches and is willing to give a reasonable deal. But that could be just my area and bad luck. Try ebay and the Porsche forums. I've gotten a few parts at good prices.

Try http://www.rennlist.com/ads/ and http://forums.pelicanparts.com/forum...p?s=&forumid=5

They have both been pretty good to me.
