I didn't get any pics of interior. It's just as bad a$$ as the outside. (I seen enough of the inside during my stay at Jake's  that I forgot to take any)

Great to see everybody (new and old freinds) It was a little cold, but still had a blast! Maybe my car will be there next year :D

petevw March 11th 2008 00:00

Nice meeting/seeing everyone again. Had a good time, and the drive back was much better with only some rain to deal with. Got in at 7pm, had a nap, and now at work on the night shift, looking at the weekends pics!

In the morning i will be a mess. I looked at the Navi/GPS and i did 3700kms and just shy of 38hrs of driving! The 4hr 30mph drive through OHIO/Kentucky in the snow with the summer tires was scary.

The bummer of the weekend was waking up to snow falling Saturday morning. I was cleaning up the car in the mild Friday night at the carwash, and i thought the local guy washing his truck was pulling my leg. I asked him what the forecast was for Saturday --> cold & snow!

Jake I hope you get involved next year. Your commentary was entertaining, and the driver/builder interviews were an awesome addition.

Damon’s Pro-Stock was quite a sight to see. The land speed record Ghia had me cringing with every 100rpm it was slowly climbing. Hopefully more racers are there next year, possibly a Pro-stock invitational/shootout? Well, the track closing down with the snow Saturday, was key to Damon’s ride being there.

Have tons of pics, will post in the coming days.

Love coming down, and hope to see ya'll again next year!

Biting my tongue on this one, but i hope to have the '52 there for '09. ;)

Seeing the confused looks as people walked by was priceless! Many thought that T1 was powering my Golf. :lmao:

Jake was driving the car on the dyno....this pic is after it broke loose going into second gear! Jake was being scolded by one of the Allspeed workers  He told him "you're gonna have to take it easy" :lmao:

Wally March 11th 2008 15:23

Love the car Beth! Its a sweety for sure!
Great numbers too ;)
Thanks!
Walter

There's a video someone posted of my dyno run on you tube :)

yellow73 March 11th 2008 23:58

Had a great weekend doing VW stuff all weekend.
Running the car down the track was awesome, I got it down to a 15.14 1/4 mile at 88 mph.....not too bad for my 4th try ever and in a car that was driven over 300 miles during the weekend.
Thanks to Dave for all the help setting it up and Jake for his on going support.

His .026 sec. reaction time "on the tree" reinforced his natural skill.

yellow73 March 13th 2008 23:53

Thanks Danny for posting the video.
Next year let's have a bunch of Type IV's there!!!
It was a blast...

Massive Type IV March 14th 2008 14:38

If we have enough maybe i could do our own "street car challenge" all TIV, no TIs allowed :-)

They can have their fun.

wrenchnride247 March 14th 2008 21:29

If mine is not done by then... someone please shoot me in the face with a large caliber weapon!!! :lmao:

yellow73 March 17th 2008 14:42

How about a German look Vs. Cal look real street challenge - having to drive a road course and go down the track.....

wrenchnride247 March 17th 2008 20:42

A GL front end, against a Cal-look (tractor front end) skinny tired, narrowed front end on road course... that would be great.

Nope.. We'd have several injuries and maybe a death when those 135s and Farm All front ends enter more than a straight..

I could imagine rolling into turn 1 at Road Atlanta or Roebling with a set of 135s at 125 MPH... You'd end up catching the front tires on fire and skidding off into the tree line!
But with their "low performance" engines they'd probably be OK... Even though a 135 tire is unsafe for the output of a damn 40 horse!

Muwhaha! Dont forget their 2+ inches shortened front beams...
Thats right on there! Couldn't have said it better myself :D

wrenchnride247 March 20th 2008 18:48

... I know it wouldn't happen. I just thought it was funny. :lmao:

yellow73 March 20th 2008 21:18

Do you think the 135 would make it to 125 mph let alone through a turn....

massIVe 79 vert March 22nd 2008 00:38

The "Peanut Special" runs a 135 up front for less rolling resistance in Land Speed Racing...

But the car doesn't have to handle corners and Roger has a full mile to stop after a 130 MPH blast in the standing mile.

Next time out the car should go 145- 149 MPH with a MassIVe upgrade.

yellow73 March 24th 2008 20:25

That must have some of them thar top quality 135 tires...none of them blue light specials for the Peanut....

petevw March 26th 2008 02:42

Well guys a little overdue, but here some of my pics:

I can only post 3 pics at a time here, so whichever works for you:

LOL... The were going very slow thru the corners.

Thanks for the pix Pete.

petevw March 28th 2008 17:59

No problem guys. Thank you for putting on this event.

I come down because it's a break from our cold weather; a chance to get some warm sun. Not this year. :(

What's the weather forecast for next year? :lmao:

Pete

Panelfantastic March 28th 2008 18:17

I predict a real scorcher on the dyno... :lmao:
