Early 944 rear trailing arms. Same as IRS beetle?
I have a question, i am on the hunt for steel IRS rear arms from a 944 Porsche. I have been doing some research and it seems the IRS beetle arms are the same as the early 944 NA porsche. Just wanted to confirm before I run off to the junk yard. I found a super beetle in the junkyard and looks like an ideal candidate....
Any help would be great!!! |
The 944 ones have internal strengthening bars, other than that the arms are identical

Hi
As said they are the same as 72 and later trailing arms, but they do have an extra hole for adjustment. It lines up with vertical hole/slot in the spring plate photos shown (bottom right), between the 3 horizontal hole/slots. Steve http://www.clubvw.org.au/images/944_arms.jpg |

That is not proof, Skeeter. Your pics don't show the hidden reinforcements that a Beetle TA has that the Porsche one does NOT have. Cut them both apart and you will see.
Neither of them is better than the other. |
