Brake balance upgrade with 944 set up

As I was looking into a little more rear bias, I stumbled upon these new 993 rears.
I have the complete 944 turbo Cup (M240 or 250hp version) set-up: 304-32 with radial 44/36 cups and rear 298x24 with 30/28 cups.
The 993's rear are 34/30 cups and fit exactly in the place of the 944T ones!
Also the 964 single pot are a bolt-on in that same spot!
So all these are exchangeable with each other! Even the pads I could switch over. therfore it was an easy swap. When I have driven the car again, I'll let you know what the difference was ;)

Hi Wally

You've got to admire they way that the Germans make everything swappable between models. Porsche to VW and Porsche to Porsche. It blows non VW car people away when I show them how easily 944 stuff fits into a bug.

Yeah, that sure is a nice thing!

I have looked over one point however...these calipers are directional mounted and the calipers on a 993 are sitting in front of the rear wheel...:o
Result is that the arrow on the caliper pointed to the wrong direction.
No, swapping sides does not work if you want to keep the air bleed on the top side!

The good news is that these calipers are symmetrical, so I have unbolted the bottom connection line of the caliper and both air bleed screws and switched them over.
It worked! I now have more rear braking power and it still blocks first on the front :)

Hi Wally

I had the same issues with the brake pipes with my car, it sure was a relief when I worked out that the pipes and bleed nipples could be switched around.

photos please

can we get some photos of the problem and the solution as it seems to have been solved by steve?

anyone?

(im 6 inches from this step in my build and would love to avoid the obvious problems that others have already solved.)

It looks and is pretty straightforward really. Just read the above a few times and look at your calipers and I am sure you can work it out yourself without any more pics of the same calipers. Pictures can't show/clearify everything I think ;)
