3 inch wider fenders! Must fill. Porsche suspension.

I've got ultimate engine/suspension choices down, and the cash to do suspension, interior, paint. (engine be saving for awhile)

Now comes to suspension, wheels and tires. The car I'm looking at has 3 inch wider fenders on all 4 corners. I would like to fill those up. As if I'm going to get the authentic porshe look. I've got to have that little burble of a tire/wheel that peaks out from the fender just to say hello! :D

I'd like to have Max sturts (or front stuts from the same car I get the rear suspension from. Knowing that the 944, 968 cars are 50/50 weight bias, I can expect the differences in rates to me minamal front to rear. I'd have to have my car cornerweighted to see if it will work well.)

I would like to use Porsche wheels. the 968's are the widest I've heard of. But unsprung weight becomes and issue with a car this light using these large porsche brakes and wheels and suspension. Even if I used all 968 stuff (I've been told that is the epitome of the 924, 944, 968 stuff. or 968 turbo stuff. That's not only $ but the differences in the beetle vs the porsche allow the wheels to be properly offset?

From what I know porsche only made 1 turbo 968 from the factory and it was sold in the U.K. I think the 968 has the same brakes as the 944 S2 and the 944 turbo S models.

oh, I didn't intend to inquire about brakes/suspension. I'm just asking what porsche wheels should I use to fill up my 3" wider fenders with wheel and tires barely poking out when I have the 944 brake/suspension (I'd love to use 968 stuff if I can make it work. or those beafy 14" roters (913?) if I can. woooh! sexy!

Hi,

I have 2" wide rear fenders on my bug with 18x10 et 47 wheels and a custom Porsche 944/930 rear brake setup. This setup effectively lowers the ET of my wheels to 17mm. Anyways, like you put it, my wheels "JUST" barely stick out from the fender and gives the fender a "stuffed" look, and the tire does not rub.

In my search for fenders, I found an 18x11 would fit under a 3" wide fender on the rear ... call it an 11" wheel, 16", 17" etc.

You could also use a 17x9 (affordable) with 255/40 tires and a spacer or you could use the late 944 arms (really widen the track) and then measure for a wheel that fits.... lots of options to fill that fender.

I take it my selection for porsche wheels (I'd like to have that porsche logo on my car) is limited? Are there any aftermakret wheels that are LIGHT LIGHT LIGHT!!! that I can put porsche caps on or aftermakret caps or paint it on?

So I can throw the 944 arms on, measure from the place where it bolts to the lip of the fender and get a wheel that wide and throw a tire on it? The tire doesn't change width any (you know, some times have that little burble in the sides of them). Win do I have to worry about rubbing, or hitting a bump and bamn, the fender is now gone?

I'd like to put the widest meats on the F and R, keep them on the ground, and fill those fenders!

Maybe these will work for you if you don't want to use spacers.
Go to the used parts section and look at the wheels on page 6.

Ohhh! I mised the used part one. Those are nice! Are the new wheels they sell porshce or replicas?

I wonder what the widest tire I can run on this car is before I actually start huring performane (IE too much unsprung weight, suspension can't keep the tire on the road right, too large to generate grip?? whatever.)

They are replicas. Real ones would cost at least 2X that amount.

What is the point of actually hurting performance with wide tires?
