H4 headlights, older fenders

My '71 Super had a Hella H4 headlight set-up installed at some point in its GL conversion. Although I have been looking at Supers and non-bugs for my next project, a standard Beetle has caught my eye.

I have been always drawn to the bullet turn signals and early headlights. Doing that to a Super didn't seem right in my visualization, but adding early fenders on a newer standard feels like having the best of both worlds in my mind's eye.

(I do know bumper and/or fender modifications will be in order.)

Can a 12v H4 system be applied to an early fender?

I want to keep the parking lights. I'm open to different lenses.

In my search on this site, I have seen some impressive HID set-ups. I'm not sure I need to go through that much fabrication as nice as many of units are. The H4's on my Super were plenty, and so much better than stock sealed beams.

I have HID's in my super's H4 headlight.

Since the HID is now in a reflective housing(meant for halogen bulbs), tossing bright light everywhere blinding all in front, you need to use these sheilds:

So......... now you can have a HID setup in a conventional H4 beam. :D

That's pretty trick, I'm going to have try those and see how well they work.

To answer the original question..... YES.

The H4 beam will fit in an early headlight assembly. You'll have to use clear lenses because the H4 unit is fluted.

Hi

Why not fit some 911 H4 headlights, they look hot in early fenders.

I will look into those, too. Thanks.
