Asking who is your favourit would be a bit stupid question, because as far as I know most of your countiries are playing on the VC...bot unfortunately not mine, so I want the Netherlands to win ;)

Hello,

:D I've been there very often, I'm half Magyar, half Dutch. But my knowledge of the language just goes far enough to order food and drinks and (very important) chat with women! ;)

Cheers,
Richard

Yeah, also Italy played well, and I was really surprised by the Czeh Republic!! Looking for the Croatia-Brasil in a few hours...

Hi

I cant beleive that we won, its like everyone in the country has won the lottery at the moment. Football is called soccer down here, we have 3 other codes of football and soccer has been the 4th code for a long time. We have rugby league, rugby union and Australian football League and in the summer cricket.

It great that we can take part on a true world championship, one where other countries are invited to attend.

The rugby is more popular in there, isn't it? But anyway you played well, it was a great victory. You are not so lucky to play against the Brasilians...but who knows ;)

Yeah I know it. That's why I was surprised when the commentetors said that in the States the level of the American Soccer League (?) is developping very well in the past 5-6 years, and it's strong enough at the moment. And it is shored up by the actual team, they play better than I/we expected..

Actually, soccer (as we call it) is very popular in the states. The two main obstacles against it here is (1) the best athletes usually gravitate to other sports, and (2) it lacks the local interest.

Now when I say "local interest," I am referring to North America as being "local." Baseball has its leagues. American football has its leagues. So does basketball and hockey. NASCAR will always be more popular as a whole than open-wheel racing because it is done primarily here. Except for Hawaii, all of North America is within three hours of itself.

One has to look no further than the television ratings of the Olympics. It is always higher if nearer to North America than Europe, and nearer to Europe than anywhere else.

I imagine Europe's lack of fascination with baseball and American football is for the same reason. Hockey rules not because of the NHL but because of European leagues.
