Gears not engaging....squeals with some pressure?

I posted the problem that i encountered over here:

http://www.germanlook.com/Forums/sho...9211#post59211

recap: Motor back in and the carbs fired up yesterday. Set the timing and it sounds healthy and snappy. Really pleased. So adjust the clutch cable, and try to put in first gear. Won't go in! Apply a litle bit of pressure, and it squeals! Still not going in. Does this in every gear. Shut down the motor, and i can put it in all gears. So roll it back and forth, clutch in and out, yup, its engaging. Fire it up, still a no-go. When bolting in the tranny, the last 3-4mm of the engine mating to the tranny was tight.

The tranny worked well with the 2L. The engine is stock flywheel, chromo Scat glandnut with new disk and pressure plate. The pressure plate looked odd with like 8 fat fingers. My Kep stage 1 has like 15 or so small fingers. Could the PP be the problem?

This is what i found:

Pulled it apart, I believe i found the problem/issue. Here's some pics:

Scat 1-1/2 glandnut

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y8/...landnut006.jpg

Comparing the 3 glandnuts i have, from left to right:

Stock 36mm, Scat 1-1/2 (bought to install with new rear seal), Bugpack 1-7/8 (from my 2332cc)

The needle bearing on the Scat in not as deep as the other 2.

Here they are on the input shaft:

Stock 36mm, wavy washer

Scat 1-1/2, flat washer

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y8/...landnut017.jpg

Bugpack 1-7/8, thrust washer

So i'll re-install with the Bugpack 1-7/8, thrust washer, and some red locktight.

Hope i didn't hurt the trans by binding it all up. This stocker is getting more and more goodies everyday from the 2332.

Wow odd and annoying!!.. considering all the work you have to do to get to that part.
Is it a mistake by bugpack or a wrong gland nut?
I know i never wouldda checked that either.. Good work on not throwing the whole car in a lake
Hope that fixes it.. you been through enough already!

The Bugpack glandnut is good. It is what i had in the 2332. The Scat glandnut is the one with the issue. Believe me, the thought of tossing it in the lake has come across my mind many times over the years.

I hope i'm driving it this weekend!

it definitley looks like your loosing about 1/4" with the scat gland nut, which would definitly put pressure on the output shaft.

i would email the mor give them a call and send them the pics.

i wouldn't chance the used one, that would just mean more headaches

just my 2 cents

 Nope! It will be a couple days. On night shift.

Does the pressure plate look right? My Stage 1 looks way different. Can't remember what the old stocker looked like.

Motor went it and it shifts well. Used the Bugpack 1-7/8 glandnut that i ran on the 2332.
