tyre sizes again - 40 or 50 profile?
just bought 4 genuine porsche cup2's, 7x17 et55 :D
what tyre sizes do most people run? I was thinking of 205/40's on all 4, but it seems Porsches run 205/50's as standard on this size of rim. Has anybody got a picture of 40 series & a 50 series tyre to compare? |
205/40/17
Tire Diameter: 23.5" Section Width: 8.1" Sidewall Height: 3.2" Minimum Rim Width: 7" Maximum Rim Width: 8" 205/50/17 Tire Diameter: 25.1" Section Width: 8.1" Sidewall Height: 4" Minimum Rim Width: 5.5" Maximum Rim Width: 7.5" A 205/40/17 is going to give you more fender clearance if you are lowered. THe 205/50/17 is going to be closer to stock height. |

As long as your not using cup 1s :D darren |
sold fuchs a long time ago :)
cup2's have been the plan for a while, have toyed with others but decided the cup2's followed the lines of my car better, I feel they look more organic :D |
Go with 40's up front. 50's could cause problems. You could run 50's out back, if you wanted to. Less clearence issues.

ah yes
I have rust on my bug to give it that organic look :D |
I'm running 40's all round for that lowered look and they are lots better for clearance too!

Hi
If you have bad roads around your way go for 50s, 40 or lower are only for very attentive drivers. Why not go 1/2 way and use 45s. Steve C |
the roads in Yorkshire (UK) are very narrow, very twisty, full of potholes & usually not very smooth. I think I should Baja my cabrio instead :D
has anyone got any photos of wheels with 50, 45 or 40 tyres on? Just so I can compare looks. |
