1.7l Typ4 & Fuel Injection

Well, if you have read the new VWT then you will notice that there is a section devoted to GL. You probably notice theres like a 2.9l without fuek injection with like 176 hp, then there s the 2.7l with Fi and puts out 226hp. My question is, does it really make that big of a difference, or am I missing some major componet and one other thing. It says FI but if you will notice on the Tafel bug it has the duals carbs on it but why would it need that if has the FI? Also I was wondering if I could do this same set up with a typ4 with Fi. I want the Porsche Fan shroud but it I can use the set up as shown on the Tafel bug where could I find thoes Carb air cleaners or intake manifold (however you say it) like in this pic http://www.aircooledtechnology.com/Home_Page.htm
And could I find the fan shroud and these air intake manifolds in carbon FIber?

It is said that EFI will not increase power but make the car more streetable.
The difference in HP are related to the big difference in the compression ratio. The 2.7 from Tafel has 11.8 and the Boxershop 2.9 has 8.5. If I am not mistaken this will have an effect on how effective a high duration cam is going to be if I paid enough attention to the heated debates over at shoptalk a couple of months ago. There is also a difference in DIN hp and US hp. It was said that German DIN HP is 10% lower than the US HP number.

as far as the fuel injection looking like carbs, that may have been
CB Performance's EFI.

They use Weber intake manifolds and what appears to be a throtle body that looks like a carb.
