With 100lbs/inch springs on the front is there a need for helper springs?

thought this may be of some interest to the resident super drivers/racers
Superbug, 1600 3 bolt strut '70-'74 #830416J $370AUD - pair http://www.k-mac.com.au/ just happend to find it while pondering my suspension & brakes in my sleep haha |
I know this is an old thread, but I have some fairly good info to add to the last post ^^. I talked back and forth with the guy from K-Mac to get a clarification about what strut type their adjustable caster/camber plates work with. They DID NOT understand, in the Super Beetle world, we differentiate by the strut type. To us, 3 bolt is the early suspension and 2 bolt is the later suspension. They, on the other hand, could not care less how the struts attach on the bottom end. To K-Mac, ALL Super Beetles are 3 bolt, because they require 3 bolts to attach the upper strut bearing to the car (as opposed to, for example, the 4 bolt strut bearings used on Porsche 944s). Therefore, their adjustable upper strut bearing (caster/camber plates) will work on all Super Beetle suspensions.
Having been made aware, they guy told me this will be corrected upon their next update of their web site. |
yeah that is because the bolts down there are as irrelevant as, for instance, the wheel stud pattern. The K-Mac stuff fits all Supers aka strut-equipped Beetles
