915 shifth rod coupler?

Hi! We are installing an aluminum 915 on a Type 1 chassis using the Bugat5speed parts including their Type 1 shifter, the one that relocate the shifter rod lower in the tunnel. Any one had used it? Do the Type 1 shifter rod works without modifications? Which shifter coupler we need?
Thanks:)

I used the beetle rod and coupling. With both the box and the rod is situe, and the coupling on the gearbox, you can figure out how much you need to shorten it by. I also shortened the rod out of the gearbox and redrilled the dimple. After I did this I decided the porsche coupling was better as it has adjustment so I spliced the beetle rod with the porsche one! There are some pics on my build thread
Good luck

Partly the reason I went over to the porsche coupling, as it takes a lot of minor adjustments to get it just right. If I was to do the conversion again, I'd use the 915 shifter I think.

I am currently running the bug@5 speed one too. Agreed it is well made, but in my opinion, puts the gears too close together, hence why i say i'd now go for the porsche shifter. Turbo nutter is running a beetle shifter which seems to do the job also (coupled with the porsche coupling)

the limebug coupling looks nice, but doesnt offer the adjustment of the porsche coupling.

any pics of your set up please .i fitted bug @5speed one ..but would like a different set to .finding 1st to 2nd .a pain .

What do you want pics of exactly?
change to the porsche coupling and you;l be able to get the adjustment you need. If you use a beetle style coupling, you have to drill the locating dimple mm perfectly in the right place!

Some comments
- if ur running the beetle shift rod then u have the following option:
Cut and graft on the back end of the Porsche shift rod and that enable u to use porsche or after market shifter coupling
Or csp shift rod shorting kit on a beetle shif rod and use the vw coupler and some new bushings.

These are the more simpler options. There are others that are a function of creativity and what's available.

If u are using already a Porsche shifter then the easier route is to use the Porsche shift rod (have a goodbused one if need) and mate to Porsche coupler. Can't remember the length difference and how much has to be shortened or extended.
