1303 type 4 against a german DTM racer
Thomas Kemp's 1303 is (one of?) thé quickest dragracers N/A in Europe and his challenges are fun to watch.
It has become a nice piece of television from the german VOX TV: http://www.vox.de/495_4868.php?video_id=53146 Enjoy! |
haha cool. no fuel injection, no turbo, no paddle shift and a "heavy" 1303  respect
|
Yeah it is fun huh?:
- You can't dragrace with a superbeetle and - You can't drag race with a type 4 engine, all myths busted in one car :D 'You can't turbo a type 4' will be added and has been busted already too ;) |
Hi Wally
Very impressive. I may have missed it in the video, what time did it run? They are pretty brave souls running on a track with no centre barrier. Steve |
Hi Steve,
I know that 1303 is a '10-second car'. It runs 10.8 IIRC. Exact times are not given in de video, as it is just meant for general television and the viewers are only interested in 'who wins', not what exact time or other details are...(thats our interest ;) ) I know that track as it is Bittburg, germany, where DasDragDay is held each year. Its an old airstrip, but still in use. Thats probaly why there is no (permanent) barrier, as they need the strip on other times for planes to land on ;-) Walter |
Very, very cool. :)
|
Just heard from Thomas himself that that run was a 10.67 @ 196 km/h...
He will also be at EBI-2 this weekend :D |
Wally, do you know the specs for his car? And what did he do to lighten his car? Very impressive times and great video. Is his car drivable on the street?
|
Quote:
Yeah, somewhat... A lot! its very light and even has rebuild over to swingaxle! It is Tüv-inspection approved and so he may drive it on the street, but it really isn't suited at all for that. Although he runs the drags WITH silencer and 911 fan operational (so it probably doesn't consume that much power  ), consider it a pure dragracing superbeetle. |
Not bad for a fat chick
Awsome car,,,,
