performance formula?

ok watching car and driver this morning, and i was noticing all the performance stats ie. 0-60, 1/4 mile/ ect. is it possible to use a formula based on weight, hp, torque, to compare your car to production models? you could use this info to build your car close to other production mobels in performance.

any ideas?

There are calculators out there that will just do that. just plug in the numbers. The last one I saw was on a mustang site. Just cant remember the exact site.

There is a calculator on the TVWDRA site. Also if you take the data from other cars like from the Car & Driver mags you will see a preyy consistant relationship between weight and HP. Plot this info on a graph and you have your own crude calculator.

Although a lot of the formulae wont work for aircooled vw's as we are rear engine rear wheel drive so tend to 'hook-up' much better due to weight transfer to the driving wheels.

Cheers for now,

ther are formulas in the back of vw trends,,
1/4 mile E.T. based on wt +hp
(cube root of - (weight/hp)) X 5.825= ET

hp based on 1/4 et + weight
weight/ ((ET/5.825)cubed)

hope these help you,,
cant figure out at the moment how to show the proper math notation,,
Derek
