"Show me the MONEY!"
I guess the most important questions are:

Is the 5-7k including the tranny?

You stole my question Alex. Plan to spend more for a combo. Just stating the facts.

Let's see:
Oh, sure, you can continue window shopping like everyone says to do in the HOPE of "saving" a few bucks here and there, but it's not their money you'll be spending when the pennysaver part(s) break. And when you compare specs, look for all the so-called "rebuilt" (verses "new") parts; an indication of where they cut corners for that "great" price. http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate...WavingFlag.gif |

Just build a 78mm crank together wit 94mm Mahle B pistons(2165cc's), it's cheaper and as reliable as the 96mm, besides I think (and tested for years), that the 94mm through the offset wrist-pins will last longer! The HP rate will top your est.140HP and you will have a very reliable engine. Such a long block, with stainless steel 2-tip muffler and J-tubes, Porsche style fan system with Carrera fan and 41mm/34mm heads, Web Cam & lifters and a few other goodies will cost you the same, around 5.5k$, but you have more necessary parts! A gearbox is as good as it's builder, I would take a more original gearbox, build to tight factory specs and a bit longer, than needed, but that depends on the driver's opinion. Maybe you want more 1/4 miling, thaen there's another gearbox better. I don't think, that a simple gearbox, maybe with 4,12 and 0,89 4th will cost you more than 500$.

Besides, if you take a look on the price, it's a common price for a common engine, where we have to give a year guarantee in Germany, no window shopping here, simple and reliable parts, that last for the same k-miles, any other would offer you, but I can guarantee for high mph, too... :silly:
A Type 4 is no secret, it's just the better aircooled engine! |
