Is the 228mm WBX /T4 flywheel forged?

Is the 228mm WBX or T4 flywheel cast or forged?

Has there been any issues with using these in high torque abuse environments?

Thanks for the assistance folks.

I have read that it is forged but have no proof. I am running one behind my 2.0T, soon to be a 2.4T

I've got the Wasser 228 and would like to use it if it is forged.

To check if it's forged or not one easy way is to use a drill bit. Find one of the spots that was drilled to balance it, and drill just enough to remove some material. Drill it slow and watch the material coming off. If it comes off in little greyish bits, its cast (like when you get a brake rotor or drum turned). If it curls up as its removed...its forged.

From what i understand all 228mm waterboxer was forged. I also have one to put on my 2.0ltr type 4 coupled to a 091 gearbox.

There is also a T4 228mm "cast" flywheel 76-79 Bus.

Yes that 76- 79 i think is for the aircooled engine that was cast. Waterboxers are forged.

For T4 aircooled engines, only the Porsche 914 2.0 215mm flywheel is forged.
