Power Mirrors

Hey All Super Freaks,

I wanted power mirrors to match my power windows,

First i had to find the ones i liked or more to suit the car I wanted Porsche 996 teardrop mirrors.

Then found out how much they would cost even on ebay agood set was $400 plus.

After much searching i found that Mazda RX7 1993 mirrors look the same found a set on ebay for $80 plus shipping form Japan:D

With switch for the dash.

I have just finished the drivers side and wanted to share, I do have a lot of photos of the build as i had to hand make the adapter :eekno:

Look tidy - a slight variation on the tear drops but they are good looking, not too cumbersome. How are the mountings done?

Hey All,

I started with a product we have in Australia called Kneed IT it comes in a tube two components you have to kneed and sets like rock you can file it and sand it...

First i taped off the section where i wanted to mount them then went to work slowly building up till i had the desired efect then let it set over night.

Then spent the next few days shaping till i was happy.

As you can see from the mounting plate that came with the mirrors it was a lot of Kneed It.

Hi, 666Bug,
A very nice application. You have galvanised me into looking again at fitting some Audi 80 ('91) electric mirrors that I have that conveniently came off a more vertical door panel than on the RX7. They are more 'Touring' than 'Sports' but should suit the rest of the vehicle.

Late 90s MX5 (Miata) mirrors look like they might be a choice? The bases seem a better shape

Interesting thread.
I'm thinking about modifying a pair of mirrors from Volvo 440th
They have electric adjustment and heating.

Hi 666bug, are you still around here? I wonder if you could upload those pictures again... I really loved you conversion, and saved a couple of pics on my hard drive but the whole package would be great :D
