carb problems.
 

I have a Zenith 34 NDIX off a porsche. Its been on my manx sr for years. I now need it to be rebuilt and the local carb shon wont do it because it in an import. I know porsche is going to charge an arm and a leg if they can even do it. What size carb should I run? I have a 1989cc type one. everything else is stock. I want to run duals but dad says no. Sence he is the one paying for it what he says goes. I was thinking about dual 34pic single barrels. I want it to have as much Horsepower as it did but not suck gas. I am fixing the car so I can drive it to and from school and get better than 18 mpg. All help and comments welcome.

Dual Dell. 36-40 DRLA's would be the ticket I think. They would be more efficient than a single (if you keep your foot out of it). Look on Ebay, there is a guy in Italy that always has good Dell's and webers on there. I have read were folks have tried to use dual PICT 34's and it was a nightmare. Most gave up on them. Dual Weber 34 ICT's or Baby Dell's would be too small (single barrels). A 1776 would max out the single barrel carbs. A single Dell 45-48 DRLA or Weber 48 IDF might be a good choice if you must do a single. But you may find that a good used set of dual Dells might be very close to the price of a new single Weber IDF set-up.

I can rebuild it but I wanted it rebuilt because my carb shop flows my carbs for free. They also tune it to my engine size and specs. Oh and the shaft the the butterflys mount on is striped. I found 4 of them on ebay but they were from hawaii and were not worth anything at all.
